They were suppose to supply my local GP surgery with my advert on their appointment cards for 2 years! I paid them a deposit and further installments! They only actually supplied for about 2 months (that was over 18 months ago) I owe a final installment, that they have sent a demand for and I refuse to pay for something I haven't had ! Infact I'd like my money back! All 4/500 quid of it!

We too are being hounded by this company. They set up a standing order on my bank account without a signature. Same person as above. Emailed me a proof and that is the last we heard from them. I will not be sending them any further payments and have invited them to take me to court. I will be happy to defend any County Court Summons and will counter claim for the £190 they have scammed out of me.

DO NOT do business with these people. Also currently touting for business as Medical Connections, but the address they operate from is still Chorley in Lancashire. We got visited by a salesman about 5 years ago now (different name then). They are very charming and know how to pressure you into making a decision and paying immediately (discounts only available today, exclusivity deals to your industry etc.) You get signed up to a 2 year rolling contract that has to be cancelled within 6 months of start. They produce a few cards which are sent to you, but very little, if any, are sent to the Doctors Surgery, and certainly not in the reported quantities of thousands. The Doctors Surgery do use them because they are an advertising mailshot and they have no incentive to use them. Also warn your colleagues as the salesman will call and pressure anyone from the office cleaner upward to sign the paperwork, reporting that you have authorised the deal. Please avoid any media company from Chorley in Lancashire PR7 1NY.

I'm in total agreement. We parted with 3 payments of £60 to be featured in appointment cards at our local vets - We have so far been told that there are delays at the printers, they are ready but need to be cut down to size, their graphic designer has left. This has now been going on for 7 months! The thing is, they just called me again trying to sell me advertising space on the appointment card that was supposedly printed but awaiting cutting 2 months ago! I'm not sure if they're actually scamming or just an awful company but something should certainly be done.

Oh dear - I am also in the long line of having been 'done over' by this company. This time they have moved to Rainworth in Nottinghamshire.
We were visited by John Barrow and fell for the same opportunity spiel as you all have. Although CAS Media took 2 installments, the appointment cards for our local surgery never materialized and the company has consistently refused to acknowledge my emails and phone calls. I have just penned a strong letter cancelling our agreement (£480 for two years advertising) and, reading the above, am not holding my breath that this matter will be resolved to my satisfaction.
I agree with your comments to not let them get away with fleecing small businesses who cannot afford the expense and will take this further as some of you have done if CAS Media fails to respond again. Very disappointed and I will definitely not fall for another advertising 'opportunity' ever again.
Good luck everybody :)

Unfortunately after years of getting my own back on these rogue traders they have eventually realised they scammed me some 4 years ago and future fraud would be unsuccessful. I would answer the cold call and arrange a meeting only to tell Alan Travis (salesman) some home truths which would result in him physically running away. At long last they have realised it's probably not a good idea to meet me any more.
Stay well clear of these scammers. They don't have authority from the health centres and even if they do you will be lucky if the appointment card makes it to print. My advert in an appointment card never made it to print or the health centre.
I suspect they will continue to open and close companies leaving a trail of debt/fraud/destruction.

Hi had a call from a John Barrow of CAS Media Marketing about a month ago. Luckily I never signed up to it. Only as I have already signed upto something similar with a company of crooks call APPY-PPL LTD. Who are running a similar scam from a virtual address in Birmingham. Avoid at all costs, stop your D&D and report them all to Action Fraud - who are verging interested in these scams.

If you could get a recording or photo that would be good, even a sound recording, but have someone with you, then refuse the deal at the end...lots of people here would want to follow it up via 'Watchdog'.

I got contacted on Friday by a company who said they were printing brochures for a local surgery and looking for a health related business to advertise. They said only one company was wanted and it would be a 2 year contract for £175 per year. I asked if I could call them back as I was about to see a client and the woman said that wasn't possible as she needed to book the appointment for a salesman to come to my business and show me samples or it would be offered to another business- this should have rung alarm bells but I was in a rush and so agreed that the salesman could come round on Tuesday morning. My business is in Norwich so hopefully this will warn a few others that they are in this area. The deal sounded great on the phone but luckily I decided to do a bit of research into advertising in this way and Google came up with a huge list of people being scammed by these companies. They called me on a mobile number which I have tried to call back but it wasn't answered. I'm assuming this salesman will now turn up on Tuesday - I'm trying to decide whether or not to simply not answer the door as business owners on other sites have said they get quite nasty when you say no- but I'd like to put a fraud and trading standards complaint in, and I don't have enough information to do so as yet. It's disgusting that these companies get away with this, and small business owners like myself who don't have much experience with advertising are an easy target. If I hadn't looked online, the chances are pretty high that I would have signed up. I'm certainly going to spread the word round my local networks about this.

They are operating in Huddersfield (08/01/2015). Watch out! I paid £30 for an advert on the appointment cards, then later rang the local surgery who said they don't use appointment cards and haven't for two years.

We have just taken CAS Media through small claims court via MCOL online for breach of contract. We signed up for advertising at our local surgery. When the cards were eventually printed, after us chasing and continually getting fobbed off, the ad was poor quality and nothing like we asked for. Also, the cards were not exclusively used at the surgery but rotated with another company. CAS never returned my call and there was never anyone available to deal with my complaint. I raised a court claim against CAS who never responded so got judgement in my favour - i then paid for court bailiffs to go out and success! I got all my money and costs back! I would highly recommend this course of action for anyone who believe CAS are in breach of contract I its a very easy procedure! Don't let them get you they are real con artists

Guess I am another one caught out. I was contacted on the 6th May and basically told about an agreement that they had with a local surgery and could a representative visit to discuss. Before I agreed the meeting I actually spoke with the practice manager who confirmed the CAS tie up so I thought I was pretty safe. The rep duly visited and fortunately I only agreed a 1 year deal with him but paid a deposit of £140 with two further installments to come out in July and August this year. I did in fact get a reply with a proof for approval and replied to them with some changes I would like, this was over a month ago now and so far no response despite further emails asking for a reply. I shall now be cancelling the additional two payments with my bank and looking at ways to recover the initial deposit. I am quite happy to pursue through the courts if necessary just for the sheer hell of it.

As a new start up business I can ill afford the loss of this type and in future will not respond to any enquiries of this nature again and would recommend that everyone does the same.

Looks like we too have fallen victim to this scam. Andrew Thomson turns up with a great deal for us - a new business - saying our local doctors had signed up with them. You guessed it, 4 months on and no cards.
Going to try and cancel the bank payment and take from there - they don't return phone calls or emails. Stay clear of CAS Media - please! Its cost us £200 already...

Have just found the two directors home address:
Stephen Christopher Orrell, 3 Gorse Close, Whittle-le-woods, Chorley, PR6 8LE
Simon Chamberlain, 23 Alder Grove, Coppull, Chorley, PR7 4QL

Perhaps everyone should write to them at home asking for their money back!

I too have been scammed by CAS Media. I have written a letter of complaint to them copied in Trading Standards and also entered a Fraud Complaint Form on the Action Fraud DirectGov website.

My bank thankfully refused to pay the standing order for 2nd payment. I phoned the GP Surgery who do not use them and have never had any agreement with CAS Media.

The salesman Chris Orrell who came out is apparently one of the two directors.

They have written to me on what looks like a really bad photo copy chasing payment of £160. For a media, print and advertising company surely a proper letterhead would be expected! It was this that made me realise it was a scam. Then after phoning the GPs and finding this complaint amongst others I knew it.

I will never let anyone visit me who cold calls again. Buyer beware.

Hi I am another unlucky customer of cas media and I had he unlucky misfortune of meeting a man call Chris Orral last November who said I could advertise in my local surgery for £200 plus vat for a total of 2 years which would set me back a grand total of £480 .
As I was keen to advertise my new company I signed on the dotted line and awaited for them to design me my advert which never came ?, After a number of unanswered emails I phoned them up and cancelled the contract and was told that I would loose my deposit and agreed as I new the company was a scam and thought I was lucky to just loose the £160 deposit and not the full £480 of the contract, But to my dismay they still took a further 2 installments and said they had no proof of my cancellation and the proof that they sent me as my advert was just a ten pate I sent them as a guide but was not intended as the advert I wanted but they still went ahead and printed the advert with out my knowledge or approval,
At the moment I am in talks with my bank to try to get my money back as I instructed my bank to block all debit card payments with cas media but it seems as soon as you give these people your debit card number you are at there mercy so please be warned .
I am contacting trading standards over this company and will fight to get my money back by all means possible and I urge every one else to do the same and the more people speak out of this scam company the less chance this company will be Able to con any body els

I have just been contacted by cas media and am feeling lucky that I checked on this forum first before my meeting next week. From what you are all saying they sound very much like another company I had the mis-pleasure of dealing with last year. I was threatened with all sorts by them but CAB helped me and fingers crossed I haven't heard from them in 6months. Still have a funny feeling it's not over yet.

I agree with all the above comments, I am up for the challenge. We need to ensure these people do not cause any more stress and grievance to others. How can we combine our efforts when we receive the court summons and escalated charges they will incur. Watchdog sounds great but probably unrealistic at this moment in time, anyone have positive legal advise that will stand up in a UK magistrates court. I would appreciate any ones help and offer mine in return.

well well well what do you know I have been hit by this scam
I today received a letter from CAS Media threatening court action if did not pay them £160 final Payment for appointment cards that where supposed to be issued to our local doctors surgery for two years. Yes you've guessed it only a handful sent out
.I wrote back to CAS Media and told them that they have not supplied the advertising I agreed to so are in breech of contract and that they would not get any more money. and If they still decide to make a claim in the courts I will most certainly defend it.
don't be afraid to confront them I am also making a complaint to trading standards regarding this matter.

Oh my God would i love to have them exposed on watchdog, I should have known better really when Andrew Thomson said he spent 6 months of the year in Costa Del Whatever, Im not suprised as he must have lots of enemies going round conning people how he is doing, he has nothing to do with doctors or vet surgeries like he says he does, he gives his appointment cards to the surgeries for free and thats if you are lucky and you are on to him, then they dont even use them because they have their own, Im well up for having him on watchdog, the scamming rat! I hate being conned and hes now sending me court threats when he has had £600 of my money already, well id love to stand up in court against him with a print off of all these comments from people he has conned.

We have also been scammed by CAS media, same guy Andrew Thompson, we signed up for two surgeries, paid 600 already they want another 1500 off us, the surgeries knew nothing about it and certainly would not be putting our cards out as they have their own suppliers already. The proofs they sent us are horrendous cannot even read them and information is incorrect. We refuse to pay, they ring constantly, we now have a letter saying they will take us to court. Not sure what to do, really we want our money back but doubt that will happen. I don't believe they would dare go to court, i would submit all the info you guys have written too. Has anyone been taken to court by them we are a health spa

I agree with you completely, they have done this with us as well. They promised to deliver 20, 000 cards in 2years and agreed 150 plus VAT p.a. When we contacted Surgery, the practice team confirmed that they only received 50 cards with our name on it. Further more, they confirmed that they have cancelled the agreement with CAS Media as they were not aware that CAS Media is forwarding them cards. They had a regular supplier Leisure Media for their Appointment Cards. CAS Media is now chasing us for balance of money and we have refused to make any further payments. I suggest if they issue court proceeding against any of us, we should all appear in hearing as a witness and tell the judge how CAS Media is playing with our money.

I am having some problems i am a gym manager and i recieved a call from CAS MEDIA and they said can they come in and talk about advertising us in doctors surgery, i had just started my own business part time - as a Herbalife distributor, i thought it was a great opportunity for advertising what i did, after Andrew Thompson went through a few ads they previously did, he started to ask name, address and filling out this agreement, and said oh i'll do it at 250 plus vat, so thats what he put he never explained the 2 year term or even let me read the terms, or even show me the terms, i paid within a week £300 without any communication as to my advert, a few weeks later got intouch and got a very basic designed to which i never was told was going live, or anything.
i read the 2 year term later and just thought well that'll teach me, didnt think i'd have to pay £300 until next annum, as it says per annum, yet i have received 2 letters, one that says invoice, and says advert £500 and VAT £100 paid £300 but at bottom it says 2nd payment of £150 was due on 17/7/12 bear in mind i received this letter 6/9/12 and 3rd payment due 17/9/12, but i feel i havent even had any communication from them and wether my ad is live and very worried as this shouldnt be due til next year, every saying its a scam and i cant find anything on the company to say it isn't legit, please please HELP ! any advice would really help

We are a company who has just been contacted by CAS for advertising as though they were the surgery themselves, telling us what a "great opportunity" it is and giving us an hour to confirm before they call a competitor. They also want a deposit before any of the cards are printed http://www.fht.org.uk/home/members_area/your_membership_benefits/scam_alerts/default.aspx They are mentioned in this website under section 3
