Desired outcome: I would like a written apology from Benelynk
Benelynk claims to be working on behalf of BCBS Highmark of Western New York. They may indeed be working on their behalf but they wanted me to sign and mail back form 10-5345, "Request for Authorization to Release Health Information" from the Dept of Veterans Affairs for "7 years" in the future, including all medical records, treatments, and Dr. progress reports. NO WAY I am releasing that information. It could only be used against me and not for me.
Benelynk is nothing more than an intermediary collecting my valuable health information for profit and to benefit my Medicare provider, Highmark BCBS. Possibly in the form of higher premiums in the very near future! I'm, sure they will probably collect a fee as well from Highmark BCBS.
They claim they are going to help me get all the benefits I deserve, by combining Medicare with Medicaid. That's a lot of BS. Medicaid is nowhere near the coverage as my Medicaid plan. I already am having my Medicare Part B plan picked up by NY state Medicaid for 1 year as a low-income recipient at age 65. If you're already on a state SNAP or Heap program they will find you without Benelynk's help. As for getting me all my VA benefits, contact them directly. You DO NOT need Benelynk.
I called the phone number provided in my letter from Benelynk. I waited for 11 minutes, the call was silent after 4 minutes on hold, no "hold music". I heard the party who picked up my call at the 11 minute point and then the hung up. I've worked in a call center before. This is a trick the lazy employees use. They pick up a call and put it on "hold" and after a few minutes, disconnect. They are on a tight "observation" by the system and if they initially pick up a call, the system assumes the caller is being helped. It doesn't recognize if they are actually being assisted. Thus way, the employee can reach his "quota" of caller helped for the day without actually doing any work. I wanted my questions answered.
I don't like third parties having access to my health information. This is a bad president set by the government to allow this sort of practice. I'm not signing and returning the letter. What happened to the HIPAA Law? This is a dirty way to get around HIPAA.
Not a chance that I'll give BENELYNK any access to my medical records from the VA. They have no connection to any of my medical plans! I got the letter through Wellcare by Fidelis Care, But my part C is through Humana. Just a clearing house so every healthcare service will have access to our records so agencies can flood your mailboxes with healthcare offers! Not mine!
I'm here to let everyone know - YOU DO NOT NEED Benelynk! Just contact your local Office of the Aging for ANY health insurance questions, that's what they're there for and the best part is they're UNBIASED, FREE, and don't work off any commission so they only have your best interest at heart! You can also verify all this by calling your local DSS office as well.
In a time where private information is vital to everything, please be careful who you share yours with - Stay Safe and Happy Holidays! 2025 can only get better!
BEWARE. Doing research, I found out they use all kinds of fake letter heads from hundreds of difference medical services. Thay are just shady data collectors.
