My vehicle, Beijing X55,is experiencing significant issues despite being under warranty. I initially reported the issue to the dealership where I bought the vehicle, Jangdas JHB (Salesperson, Saajid Choonara) on 14 February 2024 to address ESP problem, Automatic Parking Malfunction, Steep Slope Descent Function Failure and Engine sign showing on screen.

I ended up calling your Head Office. I was told by your Workshop Manager, Jacgues, to disconnect the battery and reconnect it and drive the vehicle to the border post which I refused as no one has authority to perform such a task except BAIC service provider. Alternatively, he said I should ask my insurance to tow the car to the border which when I explained that my premiums will go up and that I can only claim if I was involved in an accident and that the insurance needs a police report, Jacques was very angry at me and said “lady I was trying to help now there is nothing I can do…” when I did not agree with him. Another day I was told AA will pick up the car from Swaziland, but I have to pay 15% with holding tax at the border, which is more than R50,000.00. I called the Revenue authority, and they said there is no such for a registered vehicle. I reported back to Jac he just angrily told me he does not know, that is what he was told and basically that was the end of him talking to me as he ended up telling me that the vehicle is mine and not BAIC when I told him that this is BAIC problem and BAIC has to assist me.

On 17 February 2024 I called AA and suggested that the vehicle be towed from Swaziland to the border and that I will personally drive it across the border as it is drivable for a short distance at a low speed and then they can take over after the SA border. They called Ermelo dealership to make arrangements and the dealership asked me to send them pictures of what was wrong with the vehicle. After that the dealership told me they are still trying to find out how to deal with the problems with the vehicle and they will come back to me. I am still waiting as we speak, and the vehicle is still with me.
