In January of 2022, I purchased a health insurance plan through AWA. The Marketplace was not open any longer but the agent said that he had access to the Marketplace. He prepared coverage for insurance and told me after the 1st month which was a full premium payment of $406.12, the premium payments would be $120.00 per month with the discount after that. I stupidly believed the insurance agent and gave him my credit card to process for payment. Over a month went by and I had not yet received my insurance card. On March 1st my credit card was charged for another months full premium of $406.12. I received the insurance card from a company called Socios Buenos in Atlanta Georgia several days in to March of 2022.

I ran a search on Socios Buenos. It is actually an LLC company in Georgia with no definition of business that they operate as. They are active in the city charter but are in arears on there payment. They have only been in business for 1 year. The insurance card that was sent to me is labeled as First Health Network Limited Benefit Plan. After receiving the card, I researched First Health Network and read the reviews. There were lots of complaints regarding coverage, premium payments, failure to locate a physician in the insurers location.

The more I research, the information I have obtained from the card, for example: HMA is Hawaii Mainland Administrator which is an LLC in Tempe, Arizona. They are a third party administrator for healthcare. None of the companies are AWA, AWA just sell other company services. HMA processes the claims, they do the administrative part for the insurance company which would be AWA.

Basically, I looks to me that AWA is a shell company and sells services of LLC companies to process claims and unknown services. I have not yet received a actually real insurance card from AWA.

In short, I contacted AWA and cancelled my policy, because the agent lied, misrepresented the policy he sold me, and the cost of the policy he sold me. I am requesting reimbursement for the premium of March 2022 and I cancelled my credit card so they can not charge me for supposedly health insurance beyond this date.

Furthermore, I filed a complaint with the State Insurance Board and the Federal Trade Commission. If I have my way AWA should be put out of business.

Desired outcome: Refund for March 2022 premium payment to my credit card. Close your doors, go out of business. Your just as bad as scammers trying to get your social security number.

Totally dishonest company. I signed up as a bridge to my medicare. I spoke with National Enrollment Ctr and subscribed to AWA. I had 3 different representatives quote me prices for my prescription drugs, which quoted $15 for 30 day and $45 for 90 day supply. I just had 3 prescriptions filled for 90 days and they were $66.70, $66.00 and $66.10. I called the customer service line for AWA Caremark and they said that I had to pay a % of the retail price for each drug. I was also misquoted on the cost to see a primary care and specialist cost and lab work. I have tried calling the number that I originally had to sign up for this [protected] but it immediately rings busy, then hangs up on you. I am starting a search for a different company tomorrow.
