I Inquired about a Chihuahua mix on Petfinder ([protected]@ gmail.com) and was provided with very little information. I wanted to find out as much as I could about the animal and what all had been done with her regarding her health since she had been with the rescue. The woman Courtney, I was emailing with didn’t seem to know much of anything about the animals and came across very rude. One response stated that if I wanted to pre-adopt the animal for $600, we could talk more about her. I advised that I really wasn’t comfortable handing over that kind of money for an animal that I knew nothing about. Against my better judgment he went ahead and pre-adopted. The dog drove over two hours out of town to Clackamas Oregon. And brought home the poor dog. I took her to my vet who discovered she was positive for giardia, which is incredibly contagious. I have two other dogs at home. My yard has now been off-limits for a month waiting for hot weather. I was told the dog was about three years old, I’m quite positive. She’s considerably older than that, she also has multiple rotten teeth in the front of her mouth and is in desperate need of a cleaning. She also has a luxating patellas in both of her knees, which will require surgery. Responsible rescues get the animals treated for all illness and get the animals teeth cleaned and any pulled if needed. I did not want to deal with this rescue, but I knew that this dog needed help which is the only reason I paid this greedy rescue $600! I was told with a dog I’ve been living with one of the volunteers at the rescue for about a month, so how she was not taken to the vet tested and treated is beyond me. This is absolute neglect!

I still have to pay for repeat stool tests, dental, x-rays, removal, and cleaning, and bilateral knee repair just to get this poor animal, healthy and happy.

In this rescues contract, it states that if they find an adopter is not taking care of the animal, they can take it back at any time and sue for $2000! Seriously all I can see that they did was get this dog off death row and then make $600 off of her.

Desired outcome: I should get a full refund I’ll settle for a partial refund to help cover the over $1000 I’ve already paid.
