The email below is to the owner, Paul Goldstein, of a company by the name of:
Alde, Inc. Alde Fireplace & Chimney
Alde Masonry & Heating, Inc.
www.litemyfireplace.com

The job discussed was completely remaking an old fireplace that was unusable. The job was supposed to take about a week and had gone on for two months. They had almost completed the job but had to tear it down and start again as it was so bad, it was not salvagable. The owner of the company has been onsite only once. The crew has damaged my floors and furniture. They came unprepared and had to borrow tools and material from my other contractor. However, Paul is a very friendly and believable person - up until the very end when we said his company would not be finishing the job.

Hi Paul,

The inspector was at the house today and it appears we have some issues. Here's what he found:

1) The flue liner's 6" diameter is too small for the fireplace, we need a 8" x 12", 96" sq liner. The liner being too small would be the cause of our sample fire burning well when the flame was high and then allowing smoke into the house once it started to burn down.

2) The base of the fireplace is cement and will crack over time from use, this needs be chopped up and removed and replaced with the base to the bellfire or another fireproof material.

3) The cement cap on the top of the brick surrounding the flue pipe isn't pitched away from the pipe and needs to be recapped w/correct pitch.

4) new cooper flashing for chimney needs to be done

5) cement dropped on the roof needs to be removed

6) bricks need to be cleaned

This mason has 25 years experience and is willing to discussthese issues with you, if needed. He can also provide them inwriting if you'd prefer.

At this point, I think we're going to wait until we get an estimate from the mason on the costs to fix these issues. We will then discuss with you any refund needed to cover the costs. We will not be moving forward with you to finish this job. I'm hoping you understand the need to get experienced & capable people in to help us finish and move on.

Thanks, Sandy

BEWARE of this company!

Dear Mtyh_Buster,

It’s seems that Mr. Rubino is right.
I’ve heard lots of complaints about Alde Fireplace and Chimney from Deer Park NY.
I assure you that I’m not affiliated with Mr. Rubino or this poor homeowner from Long Island who was scammed by Mr. Goldstein and his crew. By the way I’ve heard some complaints about Mr. Rubino and his Nationwide Chimney and Fireplace too.

To be honest I didn’t know that Alde Fireplace has changed its name. I thought they were shot down for good. Watch out everybody there is a new chimney and fireplace scammer in town called Empire Fireplace & Chimney from Deer Park, New York. I’ll be watching Mr. Goldstein’s and his brand new company moves closely, you should too.

Bruce Rubino,

Upon careful review of this matter and your criticism of poor old Paul, I found it rather amusing that you chastise someone for their poor ethics and work ethic when you, yourself, have lived life drug trafficking, scamming, conning with numerous criminal records.

Before you attempt to make yourself out to be a good samaritan and throw around the word "innocent", perhaps self-reflection is in order.

The first sentence on your website (http://www.nationwidechimney.com/aboutus.html), "We are a full service company that has 25 years of expertise in the fireplace and chimney industry" is, as you so eloquently put it "scamming". According to your records, you were involved in business with beepers and car alarms in Astoria, Queens. And your business, then, was "Bell Boy Communications".

I'll give you due credit that you are criminal at heart and were able to build a business for yourself right out of prison on the coat tails of professionals, but when you attempt to deride someone else's success, you're not making yourself successful. All you're doing is pushing someone else aside to give yourself a sense of fulfillment.

Your dear old friend, Paul, has twenty-five years of expertise. Dear friend, you are not Paul and you only became involved in chimney cleaning after you came out of prison.

Refute anything I've said. For proper citation, please review U.S. v.s Tellier (link below.)

Oh, and do you remember Philip Panuccio? I'm sure the headlines still do:

Sandy, I know this scammer well, He worked for me till he stole employees and all my data base from my computer when he then contacted all my clients and had me in 8 law suites . he is an excellent salesman and knows how to lie scam and not do proper work i am the owner of nationwide chimney & fireplace In NYC. Paul hes now opened a new company and named it Empire Fireplace & Chimney in the NYC area , he has now put the company in his fathers name to protect him and his wife. he will continue to lie and scam anyone who will listen to him. Im very glad to see that others are aware of him and his lack of doing proper and correct work without cheating innocent people that are not aware of their chimneys.
