My husband and I were interested in getting a French bulldog. We went online and came across a company named Akim Frenchbull dogs where they sold pure breeds of French bulldogs. The company seemed legit (at least that's what we thought). We were interested on a pied Frenchie named Hood. We then spoke to a guy named "Allan" who was going to assist us with the paperwork for Hood's adoption. They told us we had to pay R12000 for a dog and an extra R950 for transportation of the dog because we had to fly the dog to JHB from Kimberly. Allan sent us pictures and videos of the dog so everything seemed legit!. When it was time for the dog to be transported to JHB, Allan asked for more money because apparently the courier service wanted more...we then proceeded to pay an extra R9500 to the "courier company" which was going to be "refunded" back into our account once we get the dog. When it was time for us to get the dog Allan contacted us and he then wanted an extra R25000 for a "certificate" and that's when we knew something was up. We tried contacting Allan but he kept going in circles acting like he is assisting us. We then told him he can keep the dog and just refund us the money and that's when he decided to block me so I won't be able to contact him. These guys are legit scammers !
Country of complaint: South Africa
Desired outcome: We just want our refund...we want our Money back!
This is an old scam. Don't EVER give money before getting the dog, unless it's local and the money is needed to hold the dog. When they want $ for delivery, that is your red flag. It almost happened to me. The dog was in my area, but when I wanted him, I got an e-mail saying they had moved out of state recently, so I would have to pay to have it delivered to my home. I told him I would pick him up (2 states away) and never heard from him again. It's unfortunate, but you cannot trust anyone. The good ol' days are gone..
