ADK Fitness review: Gym

This post is about ADK Fitness, located at 80 Glen Street in Glens Falls, NY.

There are two parts of this facility, each with a different membership. There's the downstairs Crossfit area, which appears well run. Then there's the upstairs gym, which is more or less a poorly run and unsupervised teen center.

Absolutely horrible experience in the upstairs gym. I've worked out in gyms and martial arts schools for 30+ years all over New York State (including NYC etc.) and never had an experience like this.

A crew of (as the owner put it) "entitled brats" ruins the upstairs area. They walk around without shirts and shoes (and never wipe down machines), vape, and wire their phones into the stereo system to play extremely explicit "gansta" rap (I mean EXPLICIT).

The owner states that he knows: people have left due to the music and attitude of the "crew," he even says he knows it gets "crazy" upstairs.

"Staffed" hours are meaningless. There's no staff. You get in via a barcode scanner, that is, when the "crew" doesn't just prop open the door so friends that don't pay can just walk right on in.

One young member, when told the music he had put on was much, much too loud (you could hear it outside across the parking lot) said he "didn't want to be [censored]ed at," and that he's a "growed [censored] man" and is "hostile and dangerous."

The owner was notified and did nothing, because that member (surprise surprise) lied about the whole thing, and also (according to the owner) takes the boutique training (so $).

Absolute train wreck. Frankly I think the police should look into this place.

Again, the downstairs Crossfit appears well run. That upstairs gym has got to go. Staff it and make sure the members are not interfering with others' ability to work out safely and comfortably, not to mention for the kids, or pull the plug.
