You Got It Doods ([edited], at www.yougotitdoods.com) is a disreputable, irresponsible dog breeder based in Kentucky. They delivered a parvo-infected puppy to us, and we had to pay $10, 000 in vet bills to save her. They also lied and omitted a number of important facts, which, if we had known the truth, we would never have bought the puppy, or taken delivery.

You Got It Doods had a puppy (named Alani) listed online for $4, 500, and I decided to buy her for my kids, who really needed an emotional support animal after 10 months in lockdown. On the evening of Jan. 18, 2021, You Got It Doods gave the puppy to a delivery service, and they brought it to me in Los Angeles the following night, Jan. 19. The puppy arrived listless and would not eat or drink.

The next day, Jan. 20, we called [edited] and asked her what she thought we should do, and she said that the puppy was probably jetlagged. We then asked her about the health of the other puppies in the litter, and were any of them sick? At that point, she said admitted that one of the littermates, Alabama, had tested positive for canine parvovirus on the morning of Jan. 18, and Alabama "died" later that day (presumably euthanized). But she insisted that when she gave our puppy to the delivery service, she "looked fine."

We rushed our puppy to the emergency hospital, and lo and behold, she tested positive for parvovirus too.

There is no doubt that Alani was infected with parvo at the breeder's facility. When we told [edited] that Alani had tested positive for parvo, she told us to send her the test results, and they would refund our money, which they did. She then said "we are done" and to never contact them again.

Now, parvovirus is horrible, highly contagious disease, and usually fatal unless the puppy receives some very expensive treatment in hospital. Even then there is no assurance that the pup will recover. Puppies that survive parvo can have long-term health problems due to damage to their gastro-intestinal system.

[edited] claimed that she "did the right thing" by refunding our money. Not quite. If a breeder delivers a puppy that is already infected with parvovirus, the "right thing" would be to refund our money, AND take the puppy back, AND pay to have her treated. That was never on the table. "We are done, " she said.

So we decided our only option was to hospitalize Alani here in LA. Our little 8 week old puppy spent a week in the hospital, and the first 5 days were touch and go. Frankly, it is a miracle that she did survive, and we thank God for the vets who saved her. The stress on our family was immense. Once she got home, we spent 3 weeks nursing her until she felt better. The vet bills were almost $10, 000. We suffered all this expense and heartache because [edited] dumped a parvo-infected puppy in our laps and walked away. That was not the "right thing" to do.

In fact, if Doods was a responsible breeder, the puppy would never have even been sent to us in the first place. A reputable breeder knows this, but the rest of us have all learned a lot about control of infectious disease in the last year, right? So on the morning of Jan. 18, the littermate Alabama tests positive for parvo and then dies. Later that day, [edited] hands our puppy, Alani, over to the delivery service. Does that sound like a responsible thing to do? If you had a kid who tested positive for COVID and then died, would you put his little sister on a plane to LA later that same day, even if she "looked fine"?

Obviously, what Doods should have done was to isolate all the puppies immediately, disinfect the kennel, have the puppies tested for parvo, and see if symptoms appeared. If necessary, Doods would then pay for the necessary medical care. Failure to do those obvious steps is the height of irresponsibility.

In addition to irresponsible breeding and sales practices, Doods made a variety of fraudulent statements and misrepresentations to us, and if we had known the truth, we would never have bought from them. Specifically, we asked [edited] several times to provide us with references of past buyers. She told us that they had never bred dogs before so they could not provide any references. After Alani was hospitalized, I did some digging and learned that [edited] had extensive previous breeding experience under different company names. ([edited] is listed with the AKC as the breeder of at least 46 dogs.) Suffice it to say that if I had known that she had all this experience but could not give me a single reference, I never would not have bought from them. There were a number of other misstatements and omissions, but suffice it to say, I would not believe anything that they say.

I was not the least bit surprised to hear later that Doods had posted fake 5 star reviews on the puppyfind.com website. There appears to be no limit to what they will do to take people's money.

Desired outcome: Refer to law enforcement
