Do not buy a dog from Kate Russell at Willow Oaks Kennel in Vermont. She is a scammer. She claims her dogs are health tested but my dog has displasia, had two eye surgeries for a genetic condition and has seizures which has also been ruled genetic. She claims these dogs are health tested but I have been contacted by at least 10 people who have dogs from her with these same issues. Some of her dogs don't even make it past their second birthday! Please do not support this woman.

Hoping for some help here. We bought a black lab pup from Katelyn Russell/Willow Oak Kennels in 2019 and a second in 2021. They are both great dogs with wonderful temperaments. First dog is healthy, however, our second dog is experiencing seizures. When we picked up our second dog, Kate was nowhere to be found and we received very little paperwork on him. If anyone who has purchased a dog from her with genetic issues, could you please message me with any details on what was uncovered regarding the issues you found?

So sorry youre going through this. My black lab has seizures from her too.
We have a black lab from here that we purchased in 2020. Just after her 1st birthday we found out she had an enlarged heart. Then last summer she had a growth above her eye. We had it removed and sent for pathology. It was found to be an aggressive form of melanoma. We then took her to peak view oncology where she started immunotherapy for this. She is now in remission but has to have labs every 3 months and immunotherapy injections every 6. Nova is the sweetest most lovable girl and I wouldn’t trade her for the world!
This woman is SICK! All of these issues we have been told are from breeding. SHE HAS TO STOP! I take every chance I get to tell people NOT to buy dogs from her! It’s so sad that all theses dogs are paying the price! It’s not fair!

This is absolutely TRUE, unfortunately. She is only in this business now for the money to support her drug addiction. I have seen it with my OWN EYES. I have "helped" care for her dogs when she has "gone missing" her dogs were left unfed and with no water for days in outdoor pens, even litters of puppies!. She has many enablers including her mother Lori Atkins of Lincoln, VT (who has now gone into the breeding business) four years ago she shot at her mother, yes with a GUN! Fact check that! It's very sad all around. To all the people defending her, you don't know the REAL Kate. She has changed Vets many times, I have witnessed this, lived it for awhile trying to help. You can't help someone who doesn't want it. If you buy a dog from her your keeping this sick cycle going.
Friends and family and this who have had a good experience will try to discredit any bad review. however verified information proves otherwise. please research dogs of willow oaks kennel. my dog was born with a genetic defect. the parents should have been fixed so future litters will not carry the defect. however they continue to be over bred. dont waste your money! katelyn russell is a puppy mill.

We bought an amazing puppy from Kate! I have never had such an intelligent and well behaved and happy dog and above all HEALTHY ! Please trust Kate! She scammed me the first of this year,and I was her friend. She told me she had a chocolate male and I flew up from NC to pick him up and come to find out it was a female and she had no plan to sell it. When I asked for at least my deposit back she said yes and then never sent it and blocked me from every thing. She is useless and chooses drugs over friendships and healthy puppies. Karma is going to get the best of her.
