We have two dogs who are now, unfortunately, former patients of this establishment. Numerous times they’ve told me contradicting information about my animals care and (scary) wrong timelines about their preventative care and vaccine schedule.

On June 1st we took our little boy Zuko in to have his nails trimmed and to weight him to ensure his simparica trio was the correct dose. I prompted this as I thought it was odd they just kept giving it to a growing puppy without a weight in. Zuko was taken back by a vet tech to have his nails done and was clearly uncomfortable going with him. The man dragged my dog by his harness which went over Zuko’s head. I asked him not to do that and lifted the dog on the scale for this man as he could not or would not do the same.

I assisted the vet tech incapable of moving a single 50lbs dog to the back and was asked to go wait in the lobby. In the lobby there is a large television that you can watch your pets care on. This man cut my poor Zuko’s nails to the quick and then proceeded to once again drag my dog instead of helping him. Zuko is 100% traumatized.

In trying to find understanding or resolution I spoke with several people who claimed to be assistant manager. I was made to wait hours and hours trying to discuss what had happened to my dog until their office manager came in at 7pm. Everyone before the manager told me they watched the footage and found what he did to be unacceptable. When I got a chance to speak with the manager she told me she saw nothing wrong with his actions.

The managers solution was to have Zuko come back in to be handled by them again and to be given tranquilizers. Obviously I was not bringing my animal back and simply wanted the cost of the appointment refunded to the original payment method. My dog is not the same since his visit and it’s going to cost me so much money in care for him that I feel it is more than fair to have this visit refunded.

Desired outcome: Refund of services rendered.

I have terminated their services as the dogs vets and they tried to offer me “store credit” for the appointment. Rather than keep going on with this I just dropped it and hope my story serves as cautionary tale about VCA and their money grubbing animal abusing ways.
