American Home Shield [AHS] - Central air unit for home

We have been w/o air since June 25th. I contacted AHS on 6-28-21 online to schedule service. They sent out Efficient Air on 6-30-21 to check our unit. The same company was sent out July 2020 and stated that the unit needed replacing but fixed it anyway. This time the compressor went out. Supposed to take 1 week to come. Efficient Air never called. I called on July 8 twice and my wife called once. They were supposed to call us back. I called July 9th and left a message. No one called. My wife and I called AHS to ask what was going on and finally got someone on the phone. We could barely understand her but she stated that Efficient Air hadn't ordered the part because they were waiting for us to tell them that we would pay $630 for coolant for the unit before they would order the part. We were told that we would have it in a week and it was 9 days later in 90+degree weather when we were told otherwise by AHS. This infuriated us. No one from AHS nor this company called us back to tell us anything. We asked to speak to an AHS manager which the customer service agent kept trying to dodge around, acted like she put us on hold to speak with her manager, and we were told that we would be called back. Now it is 4 days later. I had to purchase a portable air unit just to help cool the house. This is ridiculous. We were never even told about any cost but yet it is an old unit and we were told LAST YEAR, that it needed to be replaced. Why do we need to keep patching an old unit. I and my wife have health issues and we have 3 kids in the house as well. My wife wanted to call the BBB and the local news. This needs to be resolved immediately. (I had issues with AHS promising to get us a new washing machine which I agreed upon and it never happened. I had to buy a new one 8 months later for nearly $1000 and they gave me $430 towards the difference because they no longer carried the product that they showed us to purchase and I agreed to it.)
