I just picked up an order from O. G. on Harbison Blvd. in Columbia, S. C.
I called ahead and ordered what I often do from O.G. which was the seafood alfredo meal. I wanted to add on the $6.00 portion special and was told by the rep. there that I could do that but I would have to pay $ 4. 99 for the shrimp and another $.4.99 for the scallops. I questioned that - said I had been told at another O. G. that I would pay $6.00 for the add on - that the portion size added to the $6.00 item would be the same portion amount as what I was getting with my first item - that was seafood alfredo but no salad or breadsticks would come with the add on special. That the way to figure the cost would be to charge the difference between the cost of the seafood alfredo and what the plain f. alfredo dinner would be which I think is around $5.00. That meant I would get the add on for $11 and would get no bread sticks or salad with the add on. He told me that no - I would have to pay what he quoted me - $ 6.00 + $4.99 for the shrimp + another $4.99 for the scallops or it would cost me pennies short of $16.00. I said to forget the extra order - it made no sense to me. Can you explain if the person taking my phone order was correct.
Desired outcome: I wanted to get the add on for $ 11.00 and not $16.00 as quoted by the O. G. employee who took the phone orders.
Olive Garden employee here. I know you probably don't want to hear this, but the server was actually correct. $6.00 take homes are prepared each day and then refrigerated until purchase. To add shrimp on the side would be $4.99, the same price it would be to add shrimp to any other dish. Then, the scallops would be another $4.99, also the same price as if it was added as a side for another dish.
The $6.00 take homes are cold like tv dinners, but the add-ons (shrimp and scallops) will not be "added" to the take home, they will be freshly prepared and cooked and then placed in separate container.
Note: the take homes do not come with any sides or breadsticks, and they are smaller than the dinner size entrees.
I hope this information helps.
