Good morning, Michaels. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas of 2020, or last Christmas, I bought an Ashland - Hartford Christmas tree from your Clifton Park store. It was on sale for about $150. I set it up without issue and enjoyed it through March of 2021.
This year, as usual, I set it up the week before Christmas. Upon doing so the lights of 4 "branches" were not working. I had kept the little bag of replacement bulbs and spent more time than I'd ever hope to replacing each one along their respective branches. Even after New Years I was trying different approaches. BTW, I'm a fully grown adult male and have spent hours over my lifetime doing this - usually with success - with the regular strings of lights that go in a live tree. This was my first non-live tree, and I know folks who've had their non live trees for years with no issues. I expected the same. Not the case at all. Finally, with a sense of disgust, I gave up trying.
2 nights ago I was sitting on my couch reading when I noticed one string was getting brighter while the others were getting dimmer. Then all of a sudden something made a "pop" sound and the bright string went out. Geez! The other strings all had different levels of brightness, from very dull to normal 10 minutes later another branch started getting super bright, so I just unplugged the tree and and won't plug it in again.
*note* I did just plug it in again to take the attached picture.
*note again*. My picture would not upload. I got a ? mark indicator. This was after saving the picture as 4mb. If you want to see the picture, email me and I'll attach it to my response.
Part of the reason I got a non-live tree is that I like to leave to up until late March, or thereabouts. It does wonders for depression, which I suffer with immensely, especially in the winter. Now, I have a big dark broken useless cone in my living room, and I'm not happy about it, and will now eagerly await to see what Michaels will do for me.
I did go on line looking for a corporate website or anything else about the "Ashland" company. I found nothing, and I assume that they make their products exclusively for Michaels.
BTW, I do not have a reciept.
Thank you, Dave Ostrowski
Desired outcome: Either a new tree or money back
Okay, I was ale to attach the picture, here.

Hi Mr. Ostrowski.
I can hopefully answer some of your questions.
Ashland is not an exclusive brand. Ashland produces for several different resellers.
The warranty on the tree is one year for the lights and two years for the rest of the tree. Unfortunately this means that the lights are outside of the warranty period. Unless Michael's has provided some sort of additional coverage, repair of the circuit is under your discretion.
I might suggest purchasing a separate string of lights to use on your Ashland tree as it's still beautiful. In addition, I might suggest doing so with a line conditioner so that any electrical issues are protected against issues that may have contributed to the light damage.
