Bed Bath & Beyond - Aberdeen NJ store

Today, December 31, I went to the BBB store 10 minutes from my home in Aberdeen, NJ. I have gone there for years. I called first because I needed to do a return and wanted to know if I could do it without my receipt. They said yes. Dillon was waiting on me and when I told him I wanted to return the towels and sheets I purchased the night before at another BBB, he said I was out of the acceptable return policy. I said that was impossible as I bought them last night. He responded, "No you didn't!" I was stunned that an employee would insinuate I was lying to him. He said he could see no date on the computer for my purchase so I am not sure why he would say I was lying. He called over his manager, Shane, who said the exact same thing, "You did not purchase it last night!" No one has ever called me liar much less a service representative whose job it is to serve the public. I was so upset I had my daughter find and bring me the receipt. When I showed it to both of them, instead of apologizing, Shane asked if the receipt matched my credit card that I presented to him at the register! He then said he did not call me a liar. While he didn't say the word liar, telling me I didn't purchase the items the night before after I said I did is certainly calling me a liar. He walked away and said I should be happy he did the return without my receipt and that I could file a complaint. He certainly doesn't seem to care about his job. When I asked Dillon his name, he just stared at me until another female associate who looked appalled at the situation quickly told me his name.

I am shocked that a sales associate and a manager are allowed to represent the face of BBB. I can only imagine that there is no training given. As a senior manager, I hope you will look into this. I will never go to BBB again, certainly not this one, and I did quite a lot of business at BBB. After this incident, I quickly left, went to Targets, found what I needed and was assisted by a great cashier. I think management needs to review the Aberdeen, NJ store. I can't believe it is still open. The inventory is low, the store in unorganized, and the service stinks.
