Belle Tire

On the evening of 12/12/2022 I visited Belle Tire in Elgin, Illinois after work for a 15:30 appointment. I set it up for a new set of tires and since I was there already I figured why not get an oil change too. I was told it would be about 2 hours so I went next door to Meijer department store and did some Christmas shopping. I returned to the store about 17:15 and was told it would be a few more minutes. i proceeded to the waiting area and watched the minutes tick by. around 18:00 i asked again and explained that i needed to get going because i had other engagements that evening. they assured me again it would be only another few minutes. i waited again and was finally rung up at 18:38. The person who checked me out apologized for the delay and then told me that the oil change fee would be waived. Millage on the car was 113,782

Fast forward to yesterday 3/14/2023, I went to my local lube shop where I normally take my vehicles. They were proceeding with the oil change as normal but stopped when they spotted damage on the oil pan. They told me they couldn't proceed and showed me a picture of the damage. it looked like something was used to tighten the oil plug that damaged the oil pan. There was exposed metal around the plug and the techs were fearful that should they continue they wouldn't be able to seal it again. Mileage on car was 118,98.

I have every record of oil changes and all work done on this 2016 Kia Soul since i bought it. Last spring (2022) i had a new motor installed by Kia under warranty and had to produce all service records. This is a case of a tech who made a mistake and tried to cover it up.
