I needed to pay for my vehicle registration. There is no way to pay for this without being charged a surcharge by the state unless you use cash or a check. SoFi does not issue checks without going through a special request process that takes 14 days to complete. I called SoFi to raise my daily limit request to the amount I needed. SoFi limited access to my own cash at just $610 a day, which was far less than I needed. The agent was not able to approve raising my daily limit, again to access my OWN cash from my own account. The agent then said that I could submit documentation showing the surcharge and request a refund after it had been charged. I followed her advice and did exactly that since I couldn't access my own cash, and SoFi does not issue checks. SoFi then, just an hour after I submitted the documentation, rejected my request. Because of this, I ended up having to pay a surcharge despite having enough cash to pay for the registration! This is absolute nonsense, both that my daily limit to access my OWN cash was not raised and that my reimbursement was rejected after being told that I should follow the process described.
