For the last 4 years, BofA has been disclosing my financial information to a 3rd private and independent party without as much as trying to verify if they may have my consent — not even verifying a signature. This year I objected to this practice. The 3rd party wrote to me on a email boasting that a secretary of theirs was able to extract the information w/o of my objections. When I confronted BofA with the facts, they could neither affirm or deny that a disclosure took this year (for the sake of brevity I did not inquire about prior disclosures). I was told that it must have been some back office situation and that the agent on the phone did not have access to such information but she did not deny that there was some trace in the system. I was on the phone for over four hours being bounced from department to department. At least two of the agents I spoke about the case claimed to have requested an investigation. The last one said that someone would be in touch with me by Thursday of last week. No one has attempted to contact me about this case and I remain without a yes or no answer to whether there was a disclosure of my assets to a 3rd party this year (authorized or otherwise) let alone an explanation for such a shady behavior unbecoming of a major American financial corporation.
Desired outcome: Full accounting of every disclosure made to any party since the opening of my accounts at that institution and the steps that will be verifiably taken to return that institution to a model of ethical financial accountability.
