My child attended the Cosmetology Program at Remington through the Covid Pandemic. It was not a good experience and a complete waist of money. The class only met in person 1 day a week, which I feel is impossible to teach cosmetology that way. They could not work on real people, everything was done on mannequins and that was very unrealistic. She did almost everything online. She passed the program with no problems. She went to work at a salon and was put under an instructor there and learned everything very quickly and did very well under the hands on instruction. Unfortunately, she has yet to be able to pass the written board exam. She received no help from the school in getting her prepared for the exam, even when we reached out and asked for it. Now she has got to take the 375 extra hours to be allowed to take the exams again. Remington does not even offer these classes! They just take your money and you're on your own! I wish I had chosen another school but they were so convincing when we talked to them. They said they had a high passing rate, but I cannot see how thats possible. This program was a waist of a year of her life and a huge waist of money that she now has to pay back but has no license!
Desired outcome: I would like some help either retaking the exam or help with these extra hours she now has to take.
Remington College - Mobile al campus president/dean
I’m a recent customer to the campus and while I was there, I observed the Dean getting loud and ugly with one of the teachers. After yelling at the teacher, the teacher became upset and walked outside. The Dean then continued to follow the teacher outside and steadily yell at her and telling her to go and put in her resignation. The teacher got in her vehicle and never responded to the Dean. Outside of this situation, I did a little investigation of my own, a couple of the students stated that the Dean is dating one of the students. That particular student knows all and every one of the teachers personal situations due to the Dean telling her. This is completely unprofessional and out of order and should never happen on a school campus. As the Dean, you should always stay professional and not be fraternizing with the students.
Desired outcome: The Dean needs to be replaced or better yet fired for her unprofessionalism. Something needs to happen or that campus will be closing for good really soon.
