I was on an U.S airways plane on July 23, 2010. My plane was a transferring plane from Dallas(DFW) to Washington D.C(DCA) all the way to New York(LGA). My airplane number was us 3336 to washington and us 2170 to New York. The flight attendant told me that they could not fit in anymore luggages on board so they made a couple of other people and i to give them our luggages to check in. So i asked them where i can find my luggage and they told me that it'll be at my final destination. After boarding in New York, I could not find my luggage and they told me that my luggage was at DCA and did not fly it to LGA. The U.S airway office at the airport told me that if I gave my contact info to them, they would deliver my luggage by that night . After waiting that night, i called the office and asked where my luggage was, and they told me that it was my fault to leave the luggage at the airport and that i had to go to the airport the next day to pick it up. I was frustrated and thought it was an unfair way to treat customers. This was a situation i have never gone through and I am not sure what to do. I hope that no one else has to go through this unfair treatment while riding U.S airways again.

I fly often and have learned one has to be very alert, diligent and mindful when it comes to luggage. I have 2 sets of ID tags on my carry-on bag and 2 cards INSIDE the bag with my home address, email and telephone number. I never put any valuables in a bag that is checked or could be checked when overhead bins are full (very common these days since flights are usually full). This isn't a problem unique to USAirways...but to the entire industry.

On your next flight, notice how ignorant passengers are in respect to their use of the overhead luggage bins. Even after being told to reserve this space for larger bags passengers will fill the overhead bins with small articles that easily fit under their seats. I really get aggravated when I see someone spread their small bags out over the length of the bin expecting the next passenger or the flight attendant to consolidate their items. Again, this is common instead of the exception.

Even worse are the idiots who bring a carry-on bag that they can't possibly lift into the bin. I understand that people don't want to pay a fee for a checked bag, but expecting another passenger or a flight attendant to lift your bag is rude. I see this occur at least once on every flight I take. We'd have fewer problems of crowded overhead bins (and thus, more opportunities for lost luggage) if passengers were courteous and used common sense.

I have much empathy for the folks here who lost their luggage and would be equally upset if this happened to me. However, I don't think the blame lies on the airlines entirely when passengers contribute to the problem.

I agree the same thing has happened with me on Us Airways. Yes I did receive a receipt and yes they did promise to deliver my bags to my house and I have not seen them yet since Sunday and today is Wednesday. No call or anything and have been trying to get through the lines all night and all this morning. I traveled as a standby employee so they do not have to replace my luggage. However I had to pay for the luggage to travel to be lost or kept by someone else, this is unacceptable.
