Rita's Wrath Fails To Change Codes. It will take more than a mere hurricane or calamitous disaster to loosen the choke hold the building industry has on the state of Texas. This Sunday's, Houston Chronicle front page story demonstrates yet another example of the Children's fable, The Emperor With No Clothes. In the fable, everyone sees the emperor is stark naked, but out of fear they placate his pompous arrogance, turning a blind eye.

In the Chronicle article, Leslie Henderson, of the Federal Association for Safe Homes seems aghast at the eerie quiet concerning code discussions in Houston, especially as another, unprepared for hurricane season approaches. We are not shocked. This is not eerie quiet; this is the silence of the dammed, business as usual, as the unclothed emperor again parades.

Stories appear everyday:

12/10/07 Houston Chronicle:
...city toughening rules on building industry... GHBA represented single family homebuilders Bob Perry and Urban town home projects... Neither would be affected by new ordinances...

10/29/05 Hurricanes Aftermath/Lessons from Florida Houston Chronicle Jeb Bush warns Houston, urging them to build better houses with stricter codes so if we have to evacuate we won't have another 2.5 million people caught in a Chinese fire drill.

Houston shows off its inspections and ongoing protection of the builders and utter disregard for homeowners. Even the DA passes after being given overwhelming proof. We see these informative articles and say oh that is just terrible... but it can't happen to us, and we let the emperor sashay by again.

Read the decision just in from the Texas Supreme court Culls vs. Perry Homes and see how the supreme court of Texas deals with anyone who dares goes up against the head of the snake. One might want to check out Clean up Texas politics and see how much money it states Mr. Perry Homes "gifts" the Supreme Court justices.

TRCC: We have been to Austin in mass. The TRCC holds meetings in private with builders and their lawyers and does not even notify the complainants. They then rule on whatever the big builder’s lawyers tell them, even though Mr. Waddell, head of the residential construction is acutely aware of the charades they pull. One can view his foot shuffling during the State of Affairs committee meeting in Austin where on TV he can not even think up an excuse for the horrible cover up he participated in when he allowed Tremont homes to change homes, substitute the homeowner, Barbara Jones and the outcome, never even notifying her.

Carol Strayhorn is constantly attacked for investigating the TRCC yet her findings are never disproved. Mr. Waddell even admitted it them on TV, when left no choice and could use the excuse that he had just become the new director of TRCC. How many years does that argument hold water?

If Mr.Bob Perry Homes can pay for swift boat ads, influencing a presidential election... no doubt it was chump change to buy the Texas Residential Commission and have his in-house lawyer John Kluge appointed to the TRCC commission, appointed by none other than our insightful Governor, the other Bob Perry. How can we forget inspections? We were told if the windows on the first floor of our house were installed right side up the inspectors just assumed, they were installed right side up, on the second and third floors. Unfortunately they assumed a lot. Therefore we received: the Houston special, builder friendly "assumptive inspection."

The mayor decided to fix the problem of understaffing after receiving so many complaints, so he allowed the builders to hire their own inspectors, another builder friendly brilliant move. Mayor White constantly refers to Houston, as the builder friendly city and during his term it has definitely remained so. We heard he was a developer before becoming mayor?

Please read the minutes of the city council agenda meeting sited below. He was handed documented proof, as were the other members of the council with pictures of five subdivisions and their plights... Learn the truth without the big spin and judge for yourself. Notice how our officials agree about the atrocities being committed in Houston housing... as long as they are on camera at that meeting.

Don't take my word for this. Ride by Tremont Tower and Hyde park Crescent and see the back off number 33 at Hyde Park on all three floors. The entire back was off number # 34 two weeks ago. This was our home and not a sub prime, just unlivable. It has gone into foreclosure three times now. This is not old news. This is an on going saga of the injustice that continues to plague the citizens of Houston and we the people of Texas are at the mercy of big business, bad builders and their well paid henchmen.

Please put your heads out your windows, scream for all you are worth, the emperor is naked!
