Top Games review: Evony Return of the King

Evony Return of the King is horrible. Players are foul, emotionally abusive, and their inappropriate and incessant harassment of other players is allowed by Evony customer support. Third party purchases of bot monarchs with sexist, homophobic and rascist monarch and alliance names are used to bully other players, despite repeated complaints by multiple players on the server are clearly sanctioned by customer support. If they bother to reply, it's with a range of canned platitudes spanning obviously disinterested (we'll report this to the relevant team) to blatantly supportive (please note we do not interfere with the attack behavior of the game) and no action is taken to rectify the abuse. The pay for play players have a distinctive advantage, and use that to threaten and intimidate other players to leave the game, singling them out one by one for their harassment and bullying. The in-game translator furthers the issue, with the filters for foul language easily subverted so that people are able to send direct mail and make chat comments either publicly or privately that are full of abusive curse words. It does not block any abusive words from other languages and allows substitute characters, misspellings and use of alternate keyboards to skirt the few protections in place. This is not a game that should be rated E for everyone or anyone. This game should be banned and all players committing cyber-bullying, cyber-harassment or any other illegal activity should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
