Being a middle aged woman whose husband works a lot, and being home alone I thought that I would look for a small companion. I began to look for puppies on the internet and found www.tinypawsandclaws.com tiny paws and claws. I spoke with Shannon Ensminger and she met me around the corner from her house in Clear Lake, and then had me to follow her.

When I arrived, the horrible smell from the feces and urine hit me all at once. She had so many puppies everywhere in dirty laundry baskets and in wire cages. She claimed that the parents were housed at another located due to her being turned in to HOUSTON BARC by her neighbors. There was diarrhea in the places where the puppies were being kept and they looked just awful! I was so sad for them. She had carried in a cardboard box from her SUV that contained even more puppies.

She told me at one point that the mother to a puppy I was inquiring about was one that she had in her house. When she brought her out to me she looked as though she was about to pop she was so pregnant. She said that an 8 week old puppy was this dogs, and she also said that the same dog was due any day. I do not breed any animals, but this seemed impossible to me. Shannon had an answer for every question I asked, although throughout the visit the answers where never consistent. It seemed as though she changed the answers to my questions just to suite what I was asking. I never felt as though I got a truthful answer from her during the entire visit.

I felt very uncomfortable during the visit as she explained that even though she had one of her puppies on her website for 2400.00, she subsequently sold that puppy for only 750.00. I was also alarmed at how she had claimed to have teacup Chihuahuas and by the pictures on the website I thought they were tiny. When I saw them, they were at least 2 lbs and not even 10 weeks old.

I felt as though this was very deceiving, as the puppies on her website were just that, very young puppies and there were no new pictures that showed their up to date size and health status. I believe that she does this just to get people out to her home and pressure them into a sale of a much larger and more expensive puppy than what they were coming to see.

Towards the end of the visit she became very agitated and was trying to close the deal. She did not have the puppy she had described to me and I did not want to purchase a puppy than was living in less than sanitary conditions. I wanted a healthy puppy, and with the smelly diarrhea, they looked dehydrated and very sick. When she knew that I was not going to settle for a puppy, and wanted a puppy of my choosing, she became short and acted in a very strange and aggressive way. How was it my fault that she did not have what she had described to me?

When I started to ask more questions, she could not get me out of her home quick enough. I am led to believe from the puppies I saw that she is either a puppy mill or sells puppy mills. The puppies were not from the same litters and looked very different.

My hope is that someone will read this and know what they have in store for them with tinypawsandclaws.com

Could not agree more with the above posts! Same experience here. We bought two dogs, one ended up having Parvo and cost me $1000 + in vet bills and the other chihuahua that was supposed to be only 2lbs fully grown according to Shannon is now 10+ lbs. I could go on and on about my horrible experience, but the posts above pretty much sum up my experience. Buyer Beware! I wish I would have seen these posts before my purchase.

Yes adopt from a shelter instead of paying tinypawsandclaws $3000 for a Pom mix you can get a purebred one from a shelter for $50 and save a life too.

I was meaning to write in the post above that there is another well known complaint site on the web named scam report you can use to reach more of the public.

Is the breeder Shannon Ensminger with WWW.CANDYLANDPOMS.COM And
WWW.TEXASPOCKETPUPS.COM And WWW.TINYPAWSANDCLAWS.COM
Are all these the same lady? Dogs at a kennel somewhere run by who? Only a few dogs at her house and Where are all the others?
There is another complaining site named scam report.com you can post on to get your warning out! $3000 for a normal Pom is highway robbery.

I purchased what I thought was going to be a tea cup Pomeranian from Shannon. Her website is very deceptive..I called Shannon after seeing all of her cute little pictures with the nail polish next to the puppies..There was one in particular that I wanted Shannon said that she was one of her best puppies..high quality she told me that she was going to only get up to maybe 4 pounds and be a cute little puff ball...She then added that I needed to make a decision quickly because the puppy would sell quickly she said she would hold her for one day for me to decide because there were so many people calling about her already.. I called the next day and told Shannon I wanted her that's when she told me I needed to give her a credit card number right then for a $500.00 of the $3500.00 she wanted for the dog. The puppy was six weeks old she said and that I could probably get her as soon as 8 weeks old depending on if she was eating on her own. I called Shannon many times leaving voicemails asking if my daughter and I could come see the puppy from time to time until we could take her home. She text me back...she only texts by the way...stating that the puppy was still with the mother at the farm where they breed their dogs and she could not bring it to her house. i asked if we could go to her farm and she declined us. It has to be a mill she breeds poms, Chihuahuas and Yorke's! I had to call her at 8 weeks about the puppy..called me back for once and said the puppy was ready. My daughter and I went to her house and were sort of scared walking up to the house... Her yard was uncut and a mess trash in the yard...we went into the home and the stench of dog poo and urine was horrible..her house looked something like from the show Hoarders. She asked us to sit on the couch which was filthy and brought the puppy to us...she seemed very nervous talking fast and pacing..By the way those pictures she takes look like studio pictures but they are done by her with a sheet back drop hanging from her staircase sitting on her side table all cluttered and a mess. Shannon very quickly rattled off some instructions for the puppy and handed me a paper on puppy care. Oh but before she handed us the puppy she asked for the $3000.00 cash only first which I gave her and she quickly counted it. She told me like everyone else Im reading from to have the vet check within 3 days. She also mentioned to us about the Pom ugly stage...that in a few months the puppy would lose her thick puppy coat and it would be thin and scruffy but not to worry it would then grow back thick and fluffy. The puppy looked scared and was very lethargic on the drive home...Shannon had given me some of this paste that gives them a quick rush of sugar to give her in case she did get lethargic ..she stated that small dogs get hypoglycemic and you must watch for that. She gave me a bag of Blue Mountain dog food and told me that this is what she was eating. Got the puppy home and she seem continually lethargic and sick feeling I kept giving her the paste to wake her up... glad I'm and ICU nurse because this puppy needed a lot of monitoring..Shannon lied the puppy was not eating she could not eat the chunks of dry food shannon said she was eating so I started feeding her Gerber's baby food. I took her to the Vet the next day and they as well said she was infested with worms, parasites and giardia...Oh and was infested with ear mites! Poor thing no wonder she felt so bad. I was pissed off and texted Shannon of the Vet's findings..she text me back saying she was shocked to hear but thanked me for letting her know so she could have her other puppies checked. We had many follow up visits to the Vet to clear all of this up for our puppy. So many meds to give and eardrops! Time went on and the puppy got bigger and bigger and taller and taller..she lost her coat like shannon said but she told me by 8 months the coat would be thick and full..Well at 10 months she did grow a coat but a scraggly thin coat. I text Shannon with a picture of the puppy telling her that I had been deceived and lied too...this is not the dog I was told I was going to get and paid $3500.00 for. Shannon text me back and said that I should have told her I wanted a triple coated...A triple coat? I told her what I wanted and a tea cup little puff ball and that what she said I was getting! Shannon told me I should have done my homework on Poms and that not all of her Poms turn out fluffy! Well if she would have told me that before I would not have gotten the dog I told her.
She asked me what I wanted her to do. I said that we were now attached to the dog as well as the dog attached to us I couldn't just give her back that would be cruel and plus no telling what she would have done to the dog if she got it back...I had already had her spayed so she would more than likely be of no use to Shannon. I told her I wanted $3000.00 back and she could keep the deposit of $500.00. Shannon texted back with a big fat NO WAY. I told her the dog was not what I wanted but now we have her and that the dog was not worth $3500.00 and that I would contact an attorney.. Shannon text back offering me another puppy and that I could keep my current puppy...Why would she do that ? I told her we did not want two dogs and she told me she would give me another puppy so I could sell it! She is crazy! I told her that was crazy...I don't want to get attached to a little puppy to sell I told her to sell the puppy for me and give me the money...She text back NO...It's February 2013 now and she still refuses to resolve this issue with me..she will not answer her phone or answer my texts now.. On another note I purchased the puppy in July 2012 and was told I would be receiving the AKC papers within a few weeks... I have yet to receive AKC papers on my puppy now Feb. 2013. My Vet stated he thinks she is definitely a mix and we are having a DNA test done... Legal action will have to proceed. Like so many of all of the rest of you with rip off stories of Shannon...I too am grateful to have my puppy out of her hands and God Bless the ones she still has.

I have bought a puppy there too. I agree with the condition of the home and a ton of puppies everywhere. It does not seem they could be healthy or well kept. I finally came to the conclusion that its all about the money. Her prices went from a couple hundred dollars a few years back to a few thousand dollars nowadays. Your comment is right on target Ms. H. Concerned.
