Tim Hortons - employment wrongful dismissal

I was illegally and unjustly fired due to pregnancy related illness and no response to any calls or texts from my DO, who blocked me! I have had a rough pregnancy (I was diagnosed with hypermesis which causes me to vomit non stop for 18 hours straight. I have to go to the ER several times a week to receive nausea medication and get IV fluids.

Today, I was scheduled to work from 2 am to 8 pm. While being 7 months pregnant. No complaints from me, except the hyperemesis hit me early this morning and I could not bake without vomiting every 30 seconds or wait on customers. I felt like I was going to pass out and collapse. I had no energy and needed to go to the ER and rest. We are extremely short staffed. I was training an employee while deathly sick; I could not train him at 100%. I called and texted my DO, Angela Casale, who as usual, did not answer me. I had to seek medical treatment immediately, and closed the store down. I was not receiving a reply from her and was now vominiting violently non stop every 15 to 30 seconds. Eventually when she did answer, she fired me for not asking permission to close the store. Which I asked repeatedly, no no avail. I received NO corporate, proper training although I begged to be trained properly to no avail. I was made GM on my 2nd day. My DM quit and I was never properly trained.

When I asked to file a grievance and speak to Angela's boss, she blocked my calls and texts, and emails. Now I have no choice but to get my attorney involved in this matter. I have poured so much blood, sweat and tears into this store. This store is my baby. I have a 13 year old son, and I am having a daughter in 2 months. I desperately need this job. I have NEVER called off. I am a reliable and hard worker. I have gone months without a day off, working 12 to 15 plus hour days, all while being heavily pregnant, yet with never any complaints from me.

I have received no support from my "bosses." I have never baked in my life and was "trained" to bake through text messages! I have an interim DM (Courtney) who doesn't respond to emails, calls, or texts. Same with Angela.

Emergencies happen. And this was the only emergency that has ever happened since I became GM. I asked for permission to shut the store down today and got NO REPLY from anyone. I made an executive decision due to how deathly sick I was, the fact that I needed medical treatment Asap and could not wait any longer for an answer, so I just shut the store down. I planned on going back to do the computer paperwork, but the hospital kept me for hours upon hours to rest for the safety of my unborn baby. They requested I stay on bed rest the rest of the day.

This is beyond discrimination, amongst other broken employment laws. I have never had any prior issues like this with the company. This was an extreme medical EMERGENCY!

They refuse to give me their direct boss's phone number. They have blocked me on every outlet. I just want my job back. I did not do anything wrong, except have a medical emergency!

I was GM of Tim Hortons for over two months and received ZERO support from my DO and interim DM. In fact, I didn't have a DM for my store three days into me working and was made GM on day 2! I was given NO training, just told "cut overtime and cut waste at all expenses, " so of course EVERYONE quit. I am 7 months pregnant and while Tim Hortons boasts they take care of their pregnant employees, they have proved that to be a JOKE! I was working 12 to 14 hour PLUS days 7 days a week! If I needed ANYTHING - any training on how to do paperwork (truck orders, daily financial entries, etc etc etc) or ran out of something, I had to drive an hour and a half or more to West Virginia, which happened upwards of 5 times a week! I have hypermesis due to my pregnancy, and it has been putting me in the ER at least once a week. I have had to call an ambulance twice during these absurdly long shifts. Yesterday, I had to bake at 2 am and was throwing up non-stop in front of customers until 830 am and felt like I was literally going to die, meanwhile I got no response from my DO (because God forbid she should be bothered on a Sunday) on what I should do, so I made the decision to close the store and seek medical treatment at a hospital. I was planning on going back when I finished my IV fluids, but I finally got a text from my DO saying I'm fired! 🤣😂😂😂😂 Oh and when I said I was going to file a grievance and wanted to speak to her boss, she blocked me! I will NEVER work for BFS or Tim Hortons ever again and I will absolutely be making a scene about this in every way possible! This is how you treat your "valuable" employees?!?!?!?! Not to mention PREGNANT employees?!?!?!
