I purchased two mobile phone chargers some time ago. At the time the store notified me of my screen being cracked on my mobile phone. I agreed with the salesman that I will have the screen replaced when possible, based on the return of the two chargers. This was agreed.

This past week-end on Saturday the 1st of October at 13h00, I gave my phone to have the screen replaced. At this point, not costs were noted due to the agreement that we had in place (verbal, gentleman's agreement). When I collected my phone, I heard the salesman say R300.00

It did catch my attention that he kept the point of sale the other way around during the transaction, so that I could not see the amount. This being without turning the POS around.

To my horror when I got home, I noted that he had charged me R3,300.00

It is common knowledge that screens can be replaced for R1,000.00 plus searching the pricing, LCD mobile screens for this phone range from R390 - R1,099. Taking into account that I returned to chargers to the value of R1,000 I was charged R4000,00 for my iphone screen replacement.

These people and stores seem to have no recourse for treating customers in this manner or anyway of having customers re-imbursed.

The storeman insisted that he communicated the price to me on numerous occasions, blatantly denying any form of refund. I even asked for my old screen or a cheaper screen be fitted, yet suddenly it was not possible to do.

This shop and pop up store has no prices displayed at all. Surely the consumer act should be implemented to support such activity and very close to blatant theft. For R4,000 I could have purchased a cheaper phone.

Please post this complaint far and wide because people should not be exposed the the possibility of enduring the same experience.

Country of complaint: South Africa

Desired outcome: To receive a full refund for the screen
