Upon being hired for this company, I was assigned to the Metro Atlanta area to work major sporting events. The company not only strived in the city, but it was full of workers from the neighborhood it serviced, from all walks of life, ages, and ethnicities. However, because of the location of the venues the majority of the workers were black or hispanic. While operating in the city, the owner of the company not once made a trip down to the area to introduce herself to the staff, and get to know the staff personally. Now, I know this is not normal for many CEOs, but since the company was up and coming, and she stayed in constant communication with us via email and even text sometimes, you would think she would at least get to know us for herself. Well unfortunately, after a very busy concert/event in the 2021 season, the owner permanently hired one of the regular event workers that was one of the few to work the metro area gigs from outside of the metro area. The worker was an older, white woman from north metro Atlanta. She was good as a regular worker because she built a report with everyone, and did the job efficiently. After about 3 months, everyone was shocked to learn that all the efficient African American and minority workers were passed over, and the new white woman from north Georgia was hired as an event manager. She has since been promoted yet again to Regional manager, and again the black EMs that were there prior to her were looked over for the regional promotion. And honestly, her work ethic says she deserved it, but the way she runs the region since is riddled with racial motivations, and undertones. First, the new white regional lead had a problem with all the black men that worked as her co-workers prior to her promotion, and she would constantly make her discontent known. She also complained about the minority woman that was "too ethnic and loud" as well. So it was of no surprise that her first order of business was to indirectly and directly fire and replace every solitary black male that was working for the company prior to her even getting hired. By the time the 2022-23 season began she had practically gotten rid of almost every black person that started with the company prior to her arrival and subsequent promotion. This brings me back to the fault of the CEO/owner of the company. The black/minority workers were good enough to work the events and get the company through some of the busiest, most lucrative events in the city, but then all of a sudden, the word of a white supremist, racist is all that counts when it came to retention in the Atlanta market. Doesn't it seem odd that she never has a complaint about any of her white workers, and they break every rule from being late, to being drunk on the job. But yet the owner fully backs her when she has a problem with any of the black staff allowing her to fire them because of her personal preferences, and not based on professional merit. The job is one of the best part-time paying gigs in the Atlanta metro area, yet the black turnover rate is extremely high. The regional manager is extremely unprofessional, racist, and dishonest. She speaks to and about black people like trash to her white workers, and even to the black staff that would listen and let it pass. She hires minorities out of desperation but would always have a problem with them for the littlest indiscretions while the indiscretions of the white employees would go unpunished. Therefore, inefficient white employees would remain on staff, while minorities would be let go shortly after being hired. One time she hired 6 college students that were all friends. There was 4 white gentleman, and 2 black ones. After their 2nd or 3rd event she expressed her discontentment with the 2 black friends and said she would not be using them often. And she explicitly scheduled the white friends more than the black ones. The regional lead even disrespected another minority EM, and rather than firing her for his mistreatment and disrespect towards him after he complained, they displaced him out of the area to appease her. When workers send complaints to the owner about the mistreatment from the regional lead, she does nothing about it. The CEO has supported her in every way by ignoring the minority mistreatment and turnover and allowing her to hire a majority white staff to replace the minorities that worked for her prior to.
