I was out of work for the year of 2022. I got to where I ran out of savings and ran out of unemployment money. I needed help to pay my utility bills.

I'm 60 years old, live in a small apartment, and am diabetic and have to buy a lot of meds which have gotten very expensive.

This place doesn't even give you an option to talk to a human being, its all completely online and doesn't allow you to state your case in your own words. They don't even allow you to appeal. I wasn't even given a phone call before they denied me any help.

And once they deny you, its FOREVER!

Extremely unprofessional, hateful, inhuman and demeaning they way they work their little scam.

Don't expect ANY help from these liars and cheats. You'll be dead before you get any help from these frauds!

Desired outcome: Another corrupt, useless government department.

How long does it take to get help from Texas utility? I applied 3 months ago, all paperwork is in and MANY copies of bills. The electricity is about to be disconnected AGAIN, and I have a 75 yo mom at home with dementia and trouble with ambulating. It doesn’t seem to matter to these people, I’ve called and of course they can’t give you any information just application help. Why are they getting funding if they’re not gonna help! Someone like our Governor should do something about this!

Texas Utility Help is a FRAUD they collect ALL your personal information, then keep asking for the same thing over and over. My case was in “Applied” status for 2 months! I’ve asked for supervisors and only received an email response. I’ve sent everything they’ve asked for only to receive an email 2 MONTHS later saying they are not accepting applications at this time. I’ve had 2 of my utility services shut off during the time I’ve waited. This is a SCAM! I’m not sure what they are doing with our PERSONAL INFORMATION and funding but it’s not to help us at all!

Your Texas Benifits is nothing but a SCAM... They might pay a little on one bill to draw you in, but the major bill, they turn their backs on you. I applied for help for my water and light bill at the same time and they said that I got approved for my water bill but the system was messing up so I had to reapply for my light bill. When I did, they put over 300 occupants on my application. The lady had to go in and fix it. Then they said that they could not read the same documents that I just sent in and got approved for with my water bill application so right after I resent them, they sent me an email saying that they no longer provided help for electricity. Two days later I get another email saying that my case was still being reviewed and that my documents needed to be submitted. ALL THESE PEOPLE WANT IS YOUR INFORMATION SO THAT THEY COULD USE IT TO GET MORE MONEY TO GO INTO THEIR POCKETS... THEY EAT STEAK AND LOBSTERS WHILE THEY GIVE US SCRAPS AND SAY THAT THEY ARE HELPING US... NO IT IS BECAUSE OF OUR INFORMATION THAT YOU ARE ABLE TO LIVE THE WAY THAT YOU DO. FACTS...

I applied on Aug 15, for electric and water Assistance, they emailed me about 3 times for the paperwork I had already submitted, after calling customer service about 3 times,I still didn’t get answers, called customer service today and told them my electric was going to be shut off tomorrow

They emailed me today and told me they didn’t have any funds for electric

They should of told me this before I sent all my personal information

Not sure if this is legit

Am definitely going to make some calls

Not sure what type of buisness they are running!

This place is no help at all. Electric was disconnected and they don't even confirm with the electric provider that you are getting help so whats the use of even asking for assistance though Texas Utilitiy Help. They slow and have poor communication.

We should all get together and report the texts utilities help for not using the funds properly because nobody's getting help and the online portal it's an even working properly and we can't even get anyone to answer the phone so what are they doing with the money if nobody's getting help we should get together and report them taxpayers money is paying this and not being used for it.

We should all get together and report the fact that they are not helping with the funds ...even the online portal isn't working correctly ( not surprised)

They help who they want to help! My case has been in review status for over 1 month now. That should be rule or regulation violation to wait that long. Every call is a “in review and we’ll call you if we need anything else” .

Well they denied us AFTER we had to pay the bill ourselves to keep our 2 kids cool in this extreme heat! Had to go in debt just to do it because they drug their feet so long the power company was going to shut the power off. Nope this momma ain't letting that happen! Some lady called, DEMANDING THE SAME PAPERS I HAD SENT 3 TIMES ALREADY, hung up the phone on me, & I was like they aren't going to help. Waste of time & honestly waste of federal funds in my eyes as it seems they aren't actually helping anyone with the money given to them. Ridiculous! They need reported ASAP! Shut this scam of a "program" down!

We are currently waiting for them to help. Its been 2 weeks now. They have asked twice for the same things. Now we have another power bill that's been issued. I have a feeling they have plans to help. They say they will call. They have not. I told them in my emails they could & put my number. This is stupid at this point. Why can't real people do these jobs now days?

I requested help from this company and it took about a month for them to approve me. I end up pending disconnection because they took so long to approve me. Then they told me I would get a check mailed out and it takes 15 days! Are you serious! Mind you they claim they don’t have the option to call your utility company to put a lock on your acct so it want get turned off. The customer service dpt is literally useless. My whole thing they are supposed to help… if you are assisting ppl needing help why not mail the checks out next day air or priority shipping! it’s been so stressful dealing with this company I would think they would make sure they can assist in any kind of way with keeping the utilities on but they don’t even call your light company to let them know they made a payment and a payment is on the way smh

They took a whole month after my application to give an update, so I called the number on the site. I spoke with a lady who said it depends, they can't give you a time frame to hear from someone. Then a day later they gave an update on the website to send additional forms. They did this 3-4 times requesting pdf files of the bills or additional documents because the documents we sent were not good enough, although it's what the site request. They want you to provide papers about information you cant remember or find from BABY years. It's like they what to make it hard and stressful for you! They also said for us to pay the extra 1 dollar tax on our water bill cuz they not gone pay it. At the end they denied us because of not enough documents provided..LIARS. They literally don't want to pay for nothing. They want your information like their the IRS and still will deny you. If approved, good luck on them paying before the lights or water turn off. They keeping that money for themselves, SCAMMERS. You're better off asking help from friend or relative. Hope this is helpful.

They help but they don't help it'll be months by the time they approve you your utilities is going to be cut off and everything this the second time they done me this last year they done me this and the heat of the summer have a disabled child that need a ventilator they did it again this year then they going to tell me they're going to pay my water bill and not my light bill what kind of sense what kind of child that's on the ventilator can you only water and not likes and gas I would not never I told them I would never use them again I would not make it a third time for them to have my utilities getting cut off until they decide on giving the answer then they'll tell you that they don't call the people and put the pledge on your account liars they liars and they don't care they takes out money and give out who they want to give out and pay what they want to pay

The same happened for me. I am a 1099 employee and they refuse to accept my paystubs. They use a formula to calculate income and if your pay method does not fall in the 40/wk/hourly pay then they just deny you and say you make too much. My employer has been around for 150 years and the paystubs are completely logical proper format.. I uploaded a word doc explaining how I get paid despite it being perfectly clear on the paystubs and they still denied the case stating that I made 5 times more than I do because they have to force your income into the formula they use.

Its ridiculous, infuriating, inaccurate and illogical.

To those applying, if you have anything other than an hourly pay job, don't apply here. It will be months of stress and only cause you grief.
