We received an unsolicited call to sell our Great Vacations Club membership which was due to expire in about 6 months. The woman "Gail" was very convincing and told us that she thought we had at least a "90%" chance of renting/selling one or more weeks (we had 14 total weeks) and that she had tons of buyers looking for properties but not enough inventory. We took a leap of faith and trusted her and paid the $999 up-front marketing fee. Then we never heard from her again. I called her 2 1/2 months later and asked her what was going on. She said the hurricane (a week or so before) was unforeseen. That doesn't take away from the 2 months prior to the hurricane that she didn't sell anything for us--and those 2 months were July & Aug, which she assured us were extremely busy months. To sum up, I called her each month after that--always ME calling her--to see what was happening. Still nothing. I am mad at myself for not checking this company out. Come to find out, they have a D+ rating with the BBB & are not accredited. Huge red flag! They have had 18 complaints filed with the BBB in the last 3 years! They have 22 complaints filed with the Attorney General's Office in Florida. In our first conversation, "Gail" very slickly addressed the BBB issue right up front saying that these complaints were mostly resolved and that the remaining few would be resolved very shortly. IT"S GARBAGE! We are fighting for a complete refund.

Sunshine Timeshares was the only company that came thru on their claim to sell my timeshare, after $2700 invested with 3 others, Dave DaSilva called from Sunshine, very knowlgeable & professional, I gave it one more try, I have to admit it took a month longer than Dave thought it would, but he got rid of this nightmare in about 3 months and put $19K in my pocket when it was said & done, I sent him a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label for a thank you on top of it, Dave rocks and so does Sunshine Timeshares! Thanks Dave Vince Neil L.A. California

at least your agent was there to answer your calls. we have gone with two companys that have completely disappeared within two months of giving them our money. you say they have been there open for three years. i am shocked. they must be doing something right to still be open for that long. my research has shown that 90% of these companies go out of business within 6 months or so. i understand that these things don't sell overnight especially if you want to make a profit or even break even. i had one company tell me a timeshare is like buying a car. i finally lowered my price and sold it myself in the local paper for $500. i paid over $15, 000 for the stupid thing back in1998.
