I was pre admitted by my Dr. at the Iv Clinic for pain at the Sturgeon hospital. I told them all my symtems that I knew of, and they wanted more. I was not aware of what more they wanted as I didnt know every detail, just what Dr.s were diagnosing me with. The nurse said it wasnt enough, and that I was not getting my meds unless I told her everything, I knew no more, I asked for my files. They were closed and had no way of getting anything on me. I was suppose to be in there between 4 and 5 files closed at 4pm they could of beeen ordered prior. I then asked her to call the back up Dr. and she refused, she was also yelling at me, and upsetting me beyond with the pain I already had, but more. I called my ex husband and tried to tell him to give them my history, which was no differant than mine, but she refused to speak to him. The nurse Joanne W. became so irrate that I was calling the other areas of the hospital for help that she refused to give me my Dr ordered meds which by then was 2 hours late and slammed them down on the cupboard with the needles, refused to give me any meds, said I was no longer allowed in the clinic and she will never deal with me. My friend who witnessed almost all of this as well as patients in there all heard and witnessed what she was doing to me. The IV she put in my arm was to big for me, even when I told her I had little veins and when I was there about 4 days ago, they had to use smaller needles, but she refused to listen, she just kept yelling at me and making me beyond control. The nurse Joanne W. stuck my elbow arm inside 8 times with no luck, 1 time in my arm where she grabbed me so hard I bruised and I even had markings in my bruise from how tight she put the bandaide on. She also tried my thumb, but with such a big needle she blew my vein in my thumb. I have alot of pain and complete soreness with my thumb, which was totally uncalled for, I have severe brusing on my arm and marks all over the inside of my arm, like I was a junkie. When I called for help, some one named Stacey came down to see what she could do, but she couldnt even get the nurse to give me my requested meds from my Dr. After she kept saying it was a personality problem, while sticking up for the nurse in question. Stacey at first seen and heard what this Joanne nurse was doing to me, then she started backing her by saying she didnt do that, or I didnt see her do that. All while my friend Tina was there witnessing the largest part of the ordeal.

My friend even had to go into the hall and beg that Joanne nurse to give me my meds and then she would take me home. No one else could hang the bags so it was either talk nice to the nurse who has treated you with abuse, physically abused me, amd mentally abused me, to get my meds or go home. I eventually recieved my meds at 8PM 2 hours after I had arrived, in so much pain, and physically hurting from the abuse with the needles, mentally all round up making my migrane 10x worse. Prior to her slamming down all my meds, andneedles, and refusing to give me treatment, she was crossing her arms laughing at me, with whatever I said about the iccident to my friend or this Stacey girl, or smerking and going HAH! to keep me at a massive upset and pissed off mood the whole time. Once she had injected the bags with my meds, she watched and turned the IV up so fast that I complained that it was burning my veins.

Just 4 days prior the same thing happened and my veins were swelling and turning red from the speed, and a warm blanket was applied, this time all she did was unhook me from my meds, and said that I was done. while there was still ungiven medicine to me. I never did recover for 2 days after that event, and already complained to the patient complaint dept. But I know there is a story here and I have pictures of my arm as well of the abuse, and witnesses. Another nurse who worked in there, tried to calm me down, she knew that the nurse was always in these moods, but was especially rude to me. She said she was always like this! this rude, abusive to patients and walking away from her duties if someone doesnt know all there details, but yet refuses to get charts or call back up Dr. or speak to my ex who was just in there with me just 4 days prior. And after I gave her all my histiry and allergies, but apparently she wanted more and I did not now what she wanted, so she became irrate and with her being the head nurse it was her way, or your gone. Something must be done, and I was going to report another incident that happened to me in the same hospital but from the 2nd floor when I was admitted for 2 weeks. But now, our health board and nursing has gone to far with the abuse and I have proof and a witness or two.

SO please help me write this story, and help me with the one to the nurses association of Alberta. If we don't start now, imagine what they do to the people who are worse off then me.I need this posted in the Sun, a place for all to hear about the more abuse we get, and the cover up the other nurses do to hide it all. Then we have the few who hate seeing Nurses getting away with there abuse, and try to speak out, but when they do they are fire or layed off with no return. Or worse yet the staff involved make there work there beyond manageable.
