I had an upper blepharoplasty with Dr. Laverson and there was an issue with it. Dr Laverson said he had to do a revision, and he did. This second surgery made it worse, resulting in my eyes being very asymmetrical, with one eye that barely closes and the other eye does not close at all. Aside from being very strange looking, this has also caused extreme dry eyes and vision problems.
After a great deal of searching, I found one expert MD who said he can improve the function of my eyelids. I asked Dr. Laverson to refund my money or pay for the new procedure. He refused, saying asymmetry is normal (although in another communication he stated that the eye not closing is serious and admits it can cause significant vision problems.) He said nobody can do a better job than he can. I would never agree to let him touch me again.
At the same time I had the blepharoplasty, I also had an upper lip lift with Dr. Laverson. It was a complete fail. The lip fell back to its prior position over the next few months, and pulled my nostrils down and widened them in the process. This distorted my nostrils and the shape of my nose. In addition, one side of my upper lip no longer lifts when I smile or speak, so I seem to be sneering. I now know this can be a problem with lip lifts due to poor surgical technique. Dr. Laverson denies responsibility, even though he acknowledges in his notes (I have a copy) that the problem exists and he attempted a partial revision/fix (nasal cinch) that did not work. He now says "asymmetry is normal" and that I came to him to change my appearance!
Although I thought he was very nice when I met him, I now see that he does not take any responsibility for his results. He just takes the money and leaves me with a distorted and weird appearance for the rest of my life.
I feel that Dr. Laverson should take responsibility for the problems he caused, which are documented in his own medical notes and verified by other MDs with whom I consulted in an effort to find a way to fix the issues. Dr. Laverson should admit his mistakes and either refund my money or pay for revisions by other surgeons. Even if he did that, I will still have to go through the pain and recovery, plus take the risk that my appearance will be distorted for the rest of my life.
I waited a long time before posting any bad reviews, because I don't like to be unkind, but this is very important and people need to know the risks of working with Dr. Laverson.
