Went to the school through the surgical tech program. Most of our nights there were spent sitting in the classroom looking at the wall while one person at a time went and did practice procedures on a dummy that was so worn out and beat up. You would think 14, 000 could at least buy some good equipment to work with though we were always told new ones were coming soon...never happened. I asked countless times if we were learning enough to prepare us for the operating room because it felt like we were not learning all that much. I was told we would be fine and that we had the information we needed. Wrong. The school did not prepare us at all for what we encountered on our extern. I keep in touch with many from my class (who still have no jobs in the field) and they all feel the same. For paying 14, 000 out of pocket, I never felt so ripped off in all my life. Waste of my time and money. I should have known something was up when one of the women that works for the place was talking to our class and she stressed that we not bad mouth the school. Alarm bells should have went off then. You blow 14, 000 on a crap product and tell me if you will keep your mouth shut.
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
I am so disappointed in this school (Star Academy in clifton, NJ). It's been over a month and still no externship site (dialysis class). Students have been waiting over a month, they lied from the start Never even saying that extern would be far, Extern Coordinatoors don't even answer the calls and they lie. Also is so digusting how star tech has a commercial persuading everyone saying how great they're school is; (what a joke). Nothing but unprofessional, unorganized people working there, And we have to pay $12, 000 to $15, 000 for this school!, it's worth nothing for all the stress they have given everyone. This is not fair, it's not right. Star Academy Schools should be shut down!, So please Save Your Money & Your time, for all the stress just Save Your Life & DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL.
I totally agree. I went through the massage therapy class in delaware & it was a horrible experience. We weren't taught enough to do anything with it & only one person out of the class went on to work in the field. We're all stuck paying back thousands in student loans for what? a piece of paper that said we finished the course. We complained so many times to the director of the school & she pretty much blew us off & told us not to complain. I called recently to get my transcripts only to find Star Tech is no longer! And now I'm fighting to find out where my records are. I was told the Government seized all the files so that tells you right there that the place was shady & fraudulent! Something told me not to sign the loan papers. I wish I had listened to that gut feeling.
There are wonderful instructors at Star Surg. Tech. Program now!
