The P.G. owner is not returning my security deposit money. They cheated me and lied.

I was a resident at "Spy Residency" for Three months, from May 14 (May Fourteenth), 2023, to August 14 (August Fourteenth), 2023. I deposited 8000/- (Eight Thousand) as advance security deposit on my first day.

The landlords of this P.G. are a husband and wife named Satveer Singh Jaj and Shivani Singh Jaj. This P.G. is located in gurugram.

Before i vacate my room, due to some emergency, I came back to my hometown Rajasthan for some days and was not present in p.g. and I notified Shivani Singh Jaj Fifteen days before that I will come to Gurugram on (August Fourteenth), 2023, to vacate my room. On my last day of vacating my room, I came directly from my hometown to Gurugram to vacate my room. During our discussion on my last day, I ensured with Shivani Singh Jaj that no amount is due from my end and asked her to return my 8000/- (eight thousand) security deposit money. I also explained to Shivani Singh why I had to leave this P.G. There was some family problem/emergency. I also showed her proof of my resignation email from my company. She said that a four-months stay is mandatory in this P.G. I said I cannot afford to stay for extra one month, also I have not signed any four-months lock-in period agreement with them and they have not told me anything related to four months locking period. There is no written agreement given to me related to four months lock-in period. On my last day in p.g. she said that because I'm leaving early, she will not be able to refund my money instantly; she will pay my refund in installments. She said, “We are in a loss right now; we will return your money next month.” I trusted her and left.

I waited for a few months, did not get any call from their side, and when I called her, she said that she has some medical problems. Then I waited for more months, and they kept making different excuses. Regrettably, despite their assurance that the security deposit would be returned within a month, it has now been five months, and I have not received the promised refund.

Due to some emergency, I came to my hometown many days before the room was vacated. And I was not present in my room for many days. I didn't even change my room until I vacated my room. In that P.G., I left my room already filled with proper electricity balance, and in my absence, they changed the online meter with an offline meter, and they did not notify me for this. After three months when I asked them to refund my money, they said that I have to pay electricity charges due to the replacement of the online meter with an offline meter. I immediately called my room partner regarding this issue and sent his recording to her. After that, she got hyper and was not listening. I said that I will file an FIR against them, but they are not afraid of FIR.

A few days back, I contacted Satveer Singh on LinkedIn, and he is denying paying a refund, saying that there is an agreement that Four months' stay is mandatory, and I have stayed for three months, that's why they cannot refund money. But I have not signed any written agreement regarding a Four-month lock-in period. I have not signed any type of documentation with them. When I joined this P.G., there was no formal written agreement outlining specific terms and conditions regarding the lock-in period. Nor was I told that while vacating the P.G., a deduction of Rs 500/- (Five Hundred) cleaning charge will be made from the total deposit money of 8000/- (Eight Thousand). Now satveer singh has blocked me on LinkedIn and not picking up my calls.

They kept me stuck for a long time by making different types of excuses only because I trusted them. When i asked other peoples of that p.g. I found out that same thing has happened to other residents aswell. Not only me, but they cheated many people by this method.

I tried all possible methods from my side, but when I investigated, I found that very little information is present about them. There is only a phone number is present to contact them, and when I call, they do not pick calls. Also, the real owner of the property is unknown. I have all the proof against them like screenshots and all the call recordings, but they are not afraid of legal action.

Satveer Singh always involves his wife in this type of matter, because she is a lady, no one wants to argue with her, thats how they take advantage. My elder brother also tried to talk to her, but she making different excuses.

If no action is taken against them, they will do the same thing with another innocent person. when i file a complaint against them on (www.voxya.com) they gave me legal threat.
