Southwest Service Life Insurance Company has a vast array of ways to weasel out of their obligations. From excluding items to limiting payment on others. They charge a surgical deduction for a wound closer (sutures). I had actual surgery performed. It was a one day procedure. My bill from the hospital came to $9, 760.31. Southwest Service Life Insurance paid $1500.00 less the $300.00 surgical deductible for a total of 8.13%. The associated doctor, testing, and anesthiology expenses fared somewhat better. If I had the money I've paid in premiums I could have paid these bills off already without elevating my blood pressure as much. Don't purchase a health insurance policy with Southwest Service Life Insurance Company!
They are screwing me like a tied dog and am working with the Texas Dept. Of Insurance to nail there but and it will happen. They pay nothing and laugh at you like what are you going to do about it.
Going through the same problems. Did you get any relief from the Texas Department of Insurance?
Hospital did pre authorization and was told 70/30 with $500 deductible. We had the procedure done believing them. Now have a bill for $12000. We don't have an agent and they cant tell us who it is. Our agent retired several years ago without notifying us, and none has contacted us to let us know they are our new agent. Have requested new policy and cant get that either. Have had this insurance for ten years and used it once to find out that it is a scam. I am even having trouble getting their TDI number to file the complaint with Texas Department of Insurance. Next step is getting an attorney. Id rather pay them $[protected] than $12000.
I got a call from the guy below today to buy this insurance. So glad I read the reviews! But if you're looking for an agent, Brandon might be able to help you out:

I found these comments concerning, so I ask the agent who was offering me a policy with this company. He sent me a current complaint report fromt he Texas Department of Insurance that showed zero complaints on this company since 2015. Now I cannot understand why the folks who commented above have not filed these complaints with the TDI in Austin...
Don't bother with this insurance save your $150 and put it in a savings account because its not really worth the paper its wrote on i canceled my policy after being with them since 2/2015 and at first they were ok not great but ok after time not so much. They dont cover a lot of expenses that would typically be covered and then they only show a discount amount that your doctor should take off but usually dont give you that credit without a fight from what i have seen. So save your $1800 dollars a year you spend giving them and just go through the exchange if you have to get insurance that wont exclued you for having a past health issue from years ago years ago either. Only reason im doing this review is to save people there hard earned money. Plus they dont have online access to your account infromation they still deal in the stone age with sending you mail and they dont even explain why they dont cover something either and when you call CS they cant explain it any better. If you want to know what other people think about this company and all the companies that fall under the SouthWest service life go and look them up or go google their main phone number [protected] bacause they have a lot of AKA's out there.
Do NOT buy this policy. No matter what the claim may be, they will always deny any coverage and require more information ("57 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NECESSARY"). This is a two page standard request including asking for the names, addresses, and phone numbers of every Dr. seen in the last 5 years. My son tripped and injured his wrist, and they are still requesting this information - no matter how often that data has been submitted for previous claims, they ask for it again. I'm paying almost $800/month and getting literally nothing for it.
