Good evening,
I would like to report the breeder Southern Goldens in Ocala Florida (https://www.facebook.com/southerngoldens) (https://www.gooddog.com/breeders/southern-goldens-florida).
Their dogs are rarely correctly health tested, if at all, and they consistently are having at least 1-2 litters per month.
This Saturday, a friend of mine has to put down her dog she received from them in 2017 due to a fast growing soft tissue cancer, with the vet ruling the most likely cause as genetic factors.
With further research, I came across this form (https://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/threads/southern-goldens-reddick-fl.509238/) where someone also shares the same experience of a dog being diagnosed and euthanized due to cancer. My friend’s dog is only 5 and this individual’s dog, on the form, was only 3 when they had to put them down. Both dogs were sire’d from “Cooper”, who seems to be the father of every litter I’ve seen on their Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/southerngoldens) so far.
I am absolutely devastated for my friend who has to put down her dog. He was previously her service dog, who had to retire due to the cancer.
Due to Flordia’s puppy mill laws, I don’t see them being shut down as a viable option. That being said, I’m hoping that through bad reviews ite, people will be discouraged from purchasing from this horrible back yard breeder.
Feel free to contact me further for any more information.
Thank you for your time.

My dog also came from Southern Goldens in Ocala and died of cancer at age 5. Talking with others on Facebook in a group chat, there’s over 20 dogs that have died before 5. More than half the liter my dog was from died around 5. This is genetic and they are still breeding! Beware! They are destroying families! Not to mention the debt incurred in trying to diagnose and save them! They should not be in business!

Our Southern Golden just passed about a month ago. Sire was different (Rory), but, this means they are inbreeding as the gene is being passed down. He wasn't even 2. Started losing weight and we had a vet visit the following week. He was gone before we even got him through the week. That being said, I have sent a huge packet of complaints to the AKC from FB posts and other families who lost their pup to the same genetic disorder (IMHA anemia that leads to rare cancers and sudden death). The AKC can absolutely shut them down. Please, anyone reading this, send your complaints to the AKC. They have a specific complaints and grievances department, and you have to mail all your information to them. The more complaints they receive, the more likely these awful people will lose their "business" profiting close to 300k a year (off a scam that not only breaks people's hearts and banks (trying to find out what is wrong), but also costs these poor, sweet babies their lives). I cannot believe people like this exist in the world. There is a very special place in hell for them.
