SMUD - Sacramento Municipal Utility District review: Bill doubled

My 1st months bill with the smart meter was about 50% higher. Then the 2nd months bill was more than double the usual bill for that time of the year. When I called SMUD they said it was because of the cold days and the holiday lights. They didn't ask if I installed holiday lights - they just stated that was one of the reasons my bill was so high. I don't install Holiday lights!
