I hired Slattery to move all the items from my house in USR, NJ to a place upstate in New York, however most of the items went into their storage facility . ., BIG MISTAKE! I received many conflicting stories from Larry, the owner. Originally, the reason why I chose this company is because the owner assured me that he would be present for the move. He used that as a selling tactic . ., telling me that what separated him from all the other movers is that is was owner operated and that he was present throughout the move.

He was never there, it was the middle of winter and snowing and the men didn't even bother to lay down runners as he had promised. Half way into the move, after I had had the house cleaned for the people who were moving in, one of the movers that arrived on location, layed runners down . . . . he was the only nice and concientious one in the group but unfortunately the team leader was a nasty, arrogant man with a terrible attitude. He acted as if I was bothering him.

Since they had my items in storage, they made it economically impossible to hire another mover to move my items from their storage facility to my new home. They informed me that I would be charged all these additional fees if I were to use another mover.

During move into my new home, the same team leader showed up. He was rude, condescending foul mouthed. Later I overheard him referring to me as a "###" to his co-workers. When I called the owner about this, he sided with the team leader. I was in tears. They broke numerous items and to date, there are many personal items, valuable items, that are still missing and they are refusing to take responsibility or compensate me in any way.

They cost me thousands in moving and storgae and many more thousands in all the itmes they stole, lost or misplaced and the items they destroyed.

These people are rip off artists. I feel completely taken advatage of and they have basically told me that I have no recourse.

I only hope the word will spread and they will not be allowed to continue to take advantage of people.

The two people who handle all the bookings are Larry and Chris. Buyer beware.

I'd like to state that I've used Slattery Moving and Storage recently and these complaints sound so blown out of proportion its unbelievable. They came highly recommended by a co-worker so I gave them a shot.

The moment they came to my house in Nyack to give me an estimate they were nothing short of professional and friendly. Not fake friendly either, friendly like they were trying to help me. Larry was happy to answer all of my questions never once made me feel like he was looking down on me, or being patronizing because I had a number of questions I wanted answered. I even had a chair leg break in the during the move and they had it fixed quickly. I didn't have to hound anyone to get taken care of.

Before I made my final decision I saw a few reviews online (yelp) and found a couple of reviews including these ones. I felt compelled to write this here because my experience with them was great and no where close to these complaints. Thanks for the great job.

It is regrettable that I did not see this before contracting with them. My experience was similarly fraught with problems that I must now follow-up in the midst of unpacking and trying to set up my new home. Larry is quite unresponsive and reacts in an angry, hostile manner when questioned. His customer service is quite deficient--though he said he would call back after our latest round of conversations to resolve issues, he has not nor has he returned two calls from me. While he appears to be quite sensitive to anything he appears to be a challenge to his knowledge/experience and becomes immediately explosive, he is also condescending and will try to demean your concerns and believes his offer to be appropriate to the level of destruction of your belongings; he told me that with what he was offering, we could have a few nice dinners!!! He became angry when I informed him that my concern was the destruction of my "things" and I did not need him to buy me dinner. At that, he terminated the conversation and said he would call following the weekend when "he calmed down". This is what he says to a client who has had things destroyed, including one of a set of outdoor CONCRETE planters (which by the way his driver Kenny minimized as a small flower pot!)--what kind of customer service is that? By the way, he attributed the broken planter to the cold; this planter was ALWAYS kept outside, for many years and it was CONCRETE. His driver, Kenny, said it was the way it was packed! they packed it!!! I hope that you also reported them to the BBB, where most people start their review search. If you did, how did they receive an A+ rating?
