As past lawsuits of copyright infringement loom over the owner of Singsnap and partners and with a new harassment lawsuit on the way, Singsnap owner Trevor McGuire seems nervous or perhaps paranoid in his dealings with members lately and his crazy ideas of them plotting against him. In the past, McGuire wasn't present in the lives of the members themselves. He would show up once in a while on the message boards or on camera with a greeting or announcement of some sort.
Nowadays, we're learning Trevor has been harassing his paying customers in private communications with accusations of "copy and paste" when it comes to his posts and his belief that he "owns" every letter types on his beloved site.
Recently, a much loved member and a three account paying customer was banned permanently from the site, accused of copying and pasting posts from the message boards. Say what?
Not only was this much liked member paying Mr. McGuire $36 (USD) per month for services, but had never cause any harm or discontent on the site in the years since they'd become a member.
Many before now have come forward with similar stories of being banned from the karaoke site without cause and certainly without getting any of their money back, sometimes having been paid up for an entire year in advance.
To date, this particular story has been the worst, showing exactly what kind of a crappy businessman and person McGuire is.

After a few days of finding out they were permanently banned, we finally learned of what transpired between Trevor McGuire and this member and were disgusted.
Not only is this narcissistic man wrong on so many levels but he's paranoid and basically off his rocker in our very humble opinion.
We are also of the opinion he is a lousy businessman, choosing to take money out of his pocket instead of putting money in.
We were also wondering if his partners are aware of his harassment and shoddy business practices? If they don't, they will soon.
He has accused past non-staff members of treason. Again, say what?
He has labeled past members as haters who only had legitimate complaints about the site and demanded better treatment by staff and volunteers. He chooses to now spend his time chasing shadows and the idiotic psychopathic thoughts and delusions of Shanda Maddox/Lancaster.
In conclusion we believe it might behoove him to worry about his own skin instead of threatening paying members.
We know Shanda will be Trevor's biggest downfall.

Unfortunately, "his site" and "his rules" will be getting him sued for harassment by another former member for giving a private video to a regular member (that has no legal right to it) and posting it on Youtube (one of our other complain site reports) where it stayed for nearly three weeks and anyone could make a copy of this video during that time. Since the video is of the member in her underwear and NOT meant for the public whatsoever, the owner who abides by "his rules and with it being "his site" will pay out a huge sum of money to get out of this one and is in quite a hellofva mess.
The member who got a hold of the video will be arrested within the next few weeks.

Lol If there's nothing wrong about posting that video then I guess the arrest warrants being signed and going out are frivilous in your opinion then? On August 25th, 2011 a lawsuit was filed against SingSnap.com founder and CEO Trevor McGuire as well as three other members of the SingSnap website. This lawsuit filed in Pennsylvania Federal Court by Diane Patchen and her fiancé Robert Smik, alleged, among other things, a conspiracy to defame and copyright infringement. Eatsleepmusic Corporation, owner of SingSnap, was later added as a defendant.
Diane Patchen was banned from the SingSnap community in February of 2010 and soon after made numerous inaccurate posts around the web regarding Mr. McGuire and his business. Filing this lawsuit against him was, Mr. McGuire believes, the culmination of her vendetta. As soon as the lawsuit was filed, it was publicized on dozens of Internet complaint boards by anonymous posters.
McGuire and SingSnap immediately retained counsel to fight these ridiculous and baseless allegations.
On September 27th, 2012 the Judge William H. Yohn Jr. of the United States District Court DISMISSED all of the Plaintiff’s claims and Denied the motion for severance and transfer of the claims as “not in the interests of justice” because the claims were “frivolous”. The parties later resolved the litigation, including motions by McGuire and Eatsleepmusic Corporation seeking sanctions and their attorneys’ fees, to the satisfaction of all parties.
There is an easy way to take action against companies that harass their paying customers, start up a "sucks" site and provide a voice for legitimate customer complaints, it's the American way! Encourage your friends to boycott the company on social media, hit em in the pocket book...

Singsnap is an EVIL site. I am an Ex member who was picked on by SS Staff and banned from the Site. I wrote message after message to trevor who just handed me over to staff members...there was favouritism towards certain members and if you spoke up about them they shut you up by banning you. I would say there is a big difference between saying they were denied and saying they were dismissed as moot, particularly in legal terms.
When posting a personal opinion of a very active legal case, it would be better to post actual fact, rather than make things up as you go along. The truth is out there as you can see. Yes you mis-read, so with regards to re-filing the outcome might not be the same.

If you will check out the postings on Pacer, you will find that the petitions for dismissal were denied, not made moot. Should settlement terms not be agreed upon, they are then free to refile them, with likely the same result. The default judgments were made moot by the judge's generosity.
For the Record, defendant's petition's for dismissal have only been made moot because the plaintiff's filed an amended suit, new petitions by the defendant's have been stayed awaiting the results of settlement negotiations.
For the record, the lawsuit against Lawrence A Dickerson is not in the process nor will it be "dismissed." The lawsuit is in settlement negotiations, defendants' petitions for dismissal having been denied.

The internet has provided a forum where etiquette has flown the coop with the chickens.My own personal preference is to have every person who utilizes the web to use their own name.I know that is impossible but at least it forces people to own their words rather than talk smack clandestinely.
I agree with the poster that stated that comments are redundant now with the same individuals day in and day out spouting the same rhetoric and name calling.
I wonder if calling people and corporations silly names makes the writer feel superior and special because they use a few buzz words.If people were to use the web as they would in a personal conversation, the need for moderating and supervision would largely be eliminated.
Multiple IDs serve no purpose other than to further allow people to rant, rave and accuse without having to own their words.I use my full name except when not allowed by a particular web site and I have only been sued once and that lawsuit is being dismissed as we speak.The long arm of the law can determine who anybody is on the web if the need arises and is warranted so to think that mirrors and proxies are a safeguard is a misguided effort and advice to pass out to less knowledgeable users.

ramelle I think the folks are sayin the woman who put the video on youtube is already going to be arrested so they already know a crime was committed. if you read thru everything they say that video was stashed in a closed acct where none of the vids were public. if you go to the web site manthissitesucks and read the entire story, that video was locked away inside that closed acct for a year before the woman even beca, e a member of the same web site. since she got her hands on it because of the owner or a staff member and she used is for harassment, she will be arrested and the staff member and owner will be held accountable as well. you cant get away with internet harassment anymore. theyre crackin down on it.
Let me say first of all, your honesty and integrity is greatly appreciated. Then let me tell you all how it feels to be banished from a community that you have been a member and patron of for almost 3 years. With no warnings, no suspensions, no problems - nothing but loyalty and mutual enjoyment with other SS members.
After you are banished...
You look for your friends and fans to come and console you...but they cannot because you are blocked from receiving PM's.
You look at your fave list and see who's on line and if they did any new songs. Then you go listen to them and feel like crap because you cannot comment.
You cry and remember all the good things that SS is and all the memories, songs and contributions you made sincerely and from your heart.
Your performances are gone but your Nickname is still Green and says you are a Patron.
You go to your profile page and hope that it looks the way it was before your were banished...but it does not...it says..."This Account Has been closed by SingSnap Staff."
You find your Nic picture is replaced with a horrid tasteless graphic.
You receive e-mails from SS reminding you the payment is due soon for those you sponsored.
You try to make sense out of the nonsense but cannot.
It is all too real and hits your musical heart hard.
I could tell you more of what a loss I feel but I believe, anyone that has been banned knows personally all to well. I believe that the membership of SingSnap feels a great loss when someone is banned. I wonder how the owner and President of SingSnap would feel if the members and investors that filled his deep pockets banned him?

I find it odd that in one sentence Trevor says. I get a message like this when a post is copied:

I would like the person who did this to contact me to explain their actions. So which is it you either know by your so called device installed or you don't really know other than Shanda telling you who it could have been. And that is because Shanda can't seem to get that no one cares what she thinks or who she hates. And she the huge advocate against hate is hating on SingSnap. You are all a bunch of hypocrites. And reality check, singsnap is not a cult. It is a business where people pay their hard earned money to enjoy not be harassed.
