I came to Singapore with my wife and 5 month old daughter yesterday. The Lady Immigration officer was the not welcoming at all. She was very obstructive. I live permanently in Australia and I was in transit for 48 hours in Singapore on my way back to Australia. First of all she was very impolite when we approached her as a family. she sent my wife and child back in the queue and asked them to wait. She asked me where is my Singapore visa and and i told her politely that i am in transit and i don't need a Singapore visa for 3 days as told to me by the immigration department Singapore over the email. she was not happy with the answer. but finally she aallowed me in. Then she asked my wife the same question and she gave her the same answer. my wife also stayed in Singapore for 2 days on her way to India 6 weeks ago as her brother lives here. The immigration officer informed her that she can avail this facility only once and now she will need a visa to enter the country. My wife tried to explain her that she checked with the Singapore high commission Australia prior to leaving the country and they confirmed by email that she does not need a visa to stay in Singapore for 2 days. The lady officer was furious and she said' who are they to tell you that. i am the authority and i am telling you that you need a visa this time'. My wife had travelled the same way last year without any problem. The officer also accused her that my wife is planning to stay in Singapore permanently. she could not see the reason that my wife is a permanent resident in Australia with a job and family. why on earth would like to come and settle in Singapore. the only reason she is visiting Singapore is her brother who is a permanent resident of Singapore living there for last 10 years. in the end she allowed my wife in but has put a flag on her name and told her that she needs to take a visa before coming to the country. I was appalled by the whole scenario and the unfriendliness of the immigration officer of a country which is surviving on its tourism. this is in-spite of the fact that we had the email from the immigration department Singapore saying that we don't need a visa for our transit stay. they never said that there is a cap on how many times you can avail that facility. I felt very humiliated by the treatment

10 reasons not to visit Singapore.
1)Singapore immigration officers are horrible and bad attitude, ill tempered.
2) Airport Security staff demanding money, bribe, gifts due to economy getting worse.
3) Racism, Singaporean treat people from third world as very low and they have no human respect.
4) Any club, restaurant treatment according to skin color and nationality.
5) Overcharging, cheating common by shop-keepers, bribe culture has started.
6) Hotels cheating, poor service, high taxes and service charges.
7) Risky and unsecured tourist places with bad and poor quality equipment, rides also overpriced.
8) Locals drink on street after 10 pm. not very safe to walk.
9) common man of Singapore thinks he is next to god, and they think what they do is correct and no body can question them.
10) Most commercial locations are turning into sex shops, pole dancing junction, pick up joints and you find prostitutes chasing you all the time.
I really dont like the lady Immigration officer Singapore. She looks like Indian and impolite also.
" I LIKE THE WORD SINGAPORE SURVIVES AND TOURISM" I WOULD SAY ALSO BECAUSE OF BAR/PUBS/BROTHELS/CASINO. I HAD SIMILAR HARASSMENT, WHERE they have different treatment for third world country. Airport check-in for third world country is separate by CHANNEL-B, They have special screening process for these category of people. I understand that this country is surviving only because of Tourism, prostitution, bar/pubs, casino. 50% of young girls here work for escort services and other adult services for tourists, while their men folk have too much of attitude problem, rude, arrogant. They think they are most honest people. But this is disney with death penalty in their own words from book called Singapore Sucks. If Mainland China and India tourist stop coming, this country may not even exists, So why this attitude? Gone are the days when they use to be industrial and respectable country.
some of the bad officers in singapore will get a bad karma
i am christian catholic all christians brings bible or guide to protect me for travel..we have our own god they checked the booklet and they said why you bring this?are you going to show this in singapore to make money?they are acussing me that thing they dont have fear to god?i know we have our own religion but please respect my religion...is that necessary?why they do that things?
