This was a miserable dining experience! I am not exaggerating. Please read on. While planning a great weekend escape to San Diego, I came across this restaurant and was really impressed by the glowing online reviews it received, which I generally don't give much credence to. However, I put my skepticism aside and decided to give this a place try. My fiancee and I arrived early to downtown and wanted to check out the neighborhood before our 8 o'clock reservations. The restaurant is located right in the heart of Gaslamp and is in close proximity to many of the major sites. At around 8 o'clock we arrived at the restaurant and were seated. The restaurant was bustling with patrons, presumably many of whom read the same glowing online reviews I read. We ordered several appetizers before ordering our entrees (filet mignon and mahi mahi). The food was mediocre and overpriced. However, the main reason we decided to give this place a try was because of the dining experience that it was supposedly known for. Unfortunately, the experience was horrendous. We felt very rushed by the servers who took some of our plates without even asking whether we were finished! In fact, apparently this "rushed service" was not exclusively reserved for our table. The lady sitting across from us told one of the servers that she felt very "rushed" and if they could "slow down a bit." The food didn't even settle in our stomachs before we were hastily given the bill. The worst part of the night was when we were asked by the general manager Christopher Puffer to leave the restaurant as we were waiting for some friends to join us! Unreal, I couldn't believe my ears! I asked if we could have 5 minutes because some of our friends had momentarily stepped away from our table. I had just spent all this money on mediocre food and was being told to leave the restaurant while there were still drinks on our table! Presumably, it was because of the line of "suckers" outside waiting to get in. Regardless, we decided to leave and told Christopher Puffer that he had acted very unprofessionally. This guy was oblivious to our assertions and had a smirk on his face as we were leaving. This was a surreal and humiliating experience and suffice it say the general manager Christopher Puffer was incredibly inhospitable. If I had wanted to go to a low brow club, I would have just gone a few blocks down the street. We will definitely not be coming back here again!

Where is Marriott Corporate in this equation because it isn't just their restaurant. They do the same thing at their bar "Altitude" and they treat their hotel guests the same way. The bouncers in the bar tell their patrons - who are sitting and enjoying drinks - to get up and leave or they will be arrested for trespassing. Their hotel guests are evicted like vagrants and totally disrespected. Its almost as if they act like they are doing you a favor for your patronizing their place of business. Earth to Gaslamp Marriott: Customer is King. There are PLENTY of other establishments in the area that I would gladly give my money to and will treat me like the King I am.

The manager, Christopher Puffer is extremly rude! My friend had requested our table to be moved, and he said "are you joking? Look how many people are around you. Stop wasting my time". I couldn't believe how rude he was! I totally agree with your complaint and I am glad people are actually voicing out their experience at Searsucker.
