When we received our little guy, he had three different parasites- required immediate vet care- and it turns out he was separated from his mom two weeks too early. We love him to pieces, but he's afraid of people, is very aggressive, and has an atypical disposition for shih tzus. Something amiss in the breeding here. (We've kept shih tzus for 10 years.) When we picked him up at the airport, another couple that was expecting their dog from Scrumptious Shih Tzus didn't receive theirs and we learned that the puppy had lost its eye in an accident! If you visit this site, you'll see there's high turnover of dogs and tons of inventory. No matter what words Lori the owner says, this place has "Puppy Mill" written ALL over it. Please take your time and find a good, caring breeder with relatively small inventory.

My sweet Jack is the best dog I’ve ever owned and I’ve owned and rescued several. I bought Jack from Lori and would buy another Shihtzu from her. He’s truly loved by everybody he comes in contact with, was house trained on his own, he’s smart as a whip and doesn’t bark unless my other dogs do first and are warning us of a passerby. He sits in my work studio some days with me for 6 hours and is calm as can be. He’s also beautiful and when his coat was long my groomer commented on how luxurious it was.

Love our puppy from Lori. Got him in 2015. Very loving. Smart dog. He basically potty trained himself . Only barks when he is protecting us or if he is telling us something. He barked waking me up at 2am to let me know something was wrong with our other dog. We could not be happier. We are hoping to get a second dog from her now that our other dog passed away.

We got out shih tzu from Lori almost 6 years ago. He is the most social dog I have ever seen. Loves people! He was healthy when we picked him up. Adjusted quickly to our home and was a breeze at crate training. I would buy again from Lori.

In my defense I have never heard from this person or received a complaint...absolutely not a puppy mill...my dogs are my babies and anyone who knows me knows this...I have a great reputation with my vet and have never had a positive test for any parasites. And I received a beyond the call of duty from AKC ...I actually have very few dogs in comparison to breeders I know and mine are not kenneled.

I don't share your experience with this breed. I've known a few shih tzus over the years and both were exactly the same; stand offish to everyone but their primary human. One was snarly as well. In actuality, it is not known for being an especially sociable dog. Just thought I'd let ya know. There is a lot of fable these days regarding the temperaments of the various dog breeds. I call it "puppy PC"

And btw, some high fallutin' breeders are hawking some pathetic looking stuff for big bucks these days and you need to shop multiple premises and compare what ya see. And using words like "Champion" when I can find absolutely no evidence of it. They know full well that many people don''t know diddly about the standards for a given breed, and are well aware that people just know having a "purebred dog is the "in" thing these days, and so, once in contact with the pups - hey, who can resist? Cha-ching!

Anybody that would abuse a dog or puppy is a sick person. The Missouri puppy mill stuff is true enough (sounds like thats the issue here), but the flip side of the coin ain't exactly shiny. Frankly, I'm finding that the dog breeding business has acquired a lot of its own flim flam con artists over the past few years. I've visited more than a few kennels myself recently. Not impressed. I'm also not impressed with the play acting that goes on in many of those places. Sorta puts ME on guard.
