I have been a customer of Saveway Petroleum for 4 years. The actual service has been acceptable but on the expensive side. I currently have an outstanding credit (of over 9 months) that I attempted to get returned to me as I was unhappy with the customer service at Saveway and was changing oil suppliers. One of my major compliants was that Saveway refuses to send out a statement, even once a year. Their stock answer is "We don't do that."

Additionally each year they send out a "contract" for burner service with a letter stating it has to be returned filled out and with payment to go into affect. If you have a credit balance they deduct the service contract fee from your account even if you don't return their contract and they don't tell you this.

The customer service rep refused to refund my balance so I asked for a manager and got one of the owners, Marna Marasco, who turned out not to want to hear what I had to say but wanted to be sure I heard what she had to say. She was unfriendly and talked over me continuously, in my book that is plain rude. When I pointed out that she was talking over me and I would like a chance to talk she said OK and then proceeded to talk over me again. What she did tell me repeatedly was that they would only issue a mechandise credit, meaning I had to use it to buy oil from them. When I pointed out that this meant they had to continue to have an unhappy customer instead of simply letting me queitly go away she was not the least bit fazed, which lead me to believe this might actually be a common occurance for her. In my almost 10 minute call with her I was able to talk for less than 45 seconds.

I have been a customer since we moved in t o our house. At first they were very accommodating. and I notice these thing that they are over charging on our service contract without with no price protection. before they use to have this price protection that if you enter not their contract that whenever the oil prices goes down they wil automatically charge you the lower price and if it goes up you will get charge on the contract price and not the current higher price. When I got my bill I notice that the oil they charged me is higher than the contract price. I called and they told me that that they no longer have the contract valid because they are loosing money. they told me that what they do is buy the oil supply for the year in bulk. then use that price as the basis for amount to charge their customers. this means that if they pay a high price for that oil supply then they will charge the customer on the price they got the oil plus their profit margin. so if are in their contract you are tied up for the year with automatic delivery with the higher price it does not matter if the oil price goes down. I think they do not know how to do business and they taking advantage on the customers who does not realized that is how they do business. i was on automatic delivery and I was paying almost $5 per gallon when the oil price was only $3.79 per gallon. my bill over $600 per delivery. and they delivery every month whether you need it or not. That is how they make their money. I think that is taking advantage on their customers. If you are a customer or a potential customer. I caution you make sure you understand their contract before signing up with them and if you are worried about maintenance the service is only $75 with any plumber plus parts if need be. While their contract is $139 but what they do not tell you that this does not include parts. I had mine service and it needed parts and they charged me for the parts when I ask why I thought it was included with the service contract, they told me only certain parts and they are the only one who knows which parts are included. of course the I need is not included what a coincidence. Now I buy COD which I can shop around. And only the amount of oil I need. My service I pay $75. not $139. I saved a lot. Their slogan is SAVEWAY IS THE RIGHT WAY. It should be SAVEWAY IS THE WRONG WAY AND NO WAY.
