On a recent trip to Savannah, GA with my sister, we were shopping on the River Walk when we were brought into the store by a girl on the street literally "hawking" to people outside to come in. The "store" is River Sense and the complaints of others about Adore Cosmetics sounds like the experience I had with River Sense. All of the people in the store seemed to be related (all from Israel and I am NOT racist but feel perhaps this might be pertinent information). I fell for it. I was so upset with myself after. They put product on both my sister and I without using gloves, etc. I asked several times for the cost of the Red Light and the skin care line (Cocoage). She kept evading my question. She also evaded my questions regarding her business card, the store's main number to call for more product (she said I would receive 6 years' worth of product). She said, "Oh just call me or text me anytime." I said, "What if you are no longer working here?" She stated, "I'll be here for at least five more years." She provided her phone number and when I later looked up the area code, it was not a Georgia area code, but a Las Vegas area code! I did not even receive a receipt for my purchase. They have my email address, phone number and a copy of my driver's license. When my sister started looking up the store on the internet, the girl became upset and asked, "What are you doing there?" Like an idiot I fell for it. I used my Visa credit card and charged $6400. I had a horrible feeling after leaving the stores (2 hours later). I immediately cancelled my VISA card with my bank upon returning to my hotel. The purchase was still pending. I filed a fraud report with my bank, explaining I still had the products and would happily return. I also filed a report to the Federal Trade Commission. I researched reviews of River Sense on the internet, and many felt it was a scam. I still have the product and I'm afraid they will come after me. I signed an agreement (like an idiot) stating I understood there were no refunds after signing. I am so ashamed. I am usually a very frugal and logical person, but I was taken. I attempted to contact the girl and have received no response. Interestingly, the VISA charge which showed it was pending, just disappeared. The bank's fraudulent department rep I was working with stated she would continue to keep an eye out, but it was indeed gone! Thank God I cancelled the card, but I'm worried they will "come after me." I would happily return the products but how do I know they would actually receive them and not come after me? If they are scammers, which I believe they are, I suppose they will not come after me, but I am concerned. By the way, their address is 123 E River Street Savannah GA. You won't find a phone number, email address or a website! Please help!
Update from my original posting above. Did they say they would send you more products when you needed them? Oh, yes the girl gave me her cell phone number and invited me to text her or call her when I needed more product. I asked for more after about a month. She sent me the product I requested. In another month, I asked for more (via text), just to see if she would again send me product. I never heard from her again. The business card might have a number on it, you will call or text the person and they might comply once but try it again! I guarantee you will not get a response. IT IS A SCAM. Don't think for a minute they are legit! They should be shut down.
I was just at River Sense yesterday. They used the wrinkle treatment for around my eyes. Yes they did not use gloves. I seen instant results. They also did a complimentary run with the RED light on my face and my husbands neck for his pain. I was told the price of the Red Light and everything else they tried to sell me. I seen this complaint later in the day. So I did some research. The RED LED system was priced online exactly as they stated to me. The items that I did purchase, I also looked up: Cocoage Facial Peeling Gel retails online for $289.99 and the Instant Wrinkle Treatment Syringe $400.00. I paid less for it then that. I did pay cash and received a receipt. I also received a card with one of the owners phone numbers on it incase I have any issues with what I bought.
was the owners name Alex? did you ever try to contact him?
Just went into the store and also they applied the eye wrinkle cream and tried to sell me a package for $399.00. told me it was a $1,000 on line. I refused as I was walking out the store she offered to reduce it my another $150.00. I declined. On the drive home I googled it and the products were cheaper on line and no where near $1,000. Glad I didn't fall for it.
