This review was chosen algorithmically as the most valued customer feedback.

On 12/8/22, I received my electric bill from RI Energy. My bill was up to date at the time of its issuance. It indicated that my family used 1579 kwh for Nov-Dec. The charge was $944.99. While I don't dispute the usage because my house runs solely on electricity, the charge is astronomical.

I called RI Energy to discuss this charge. I spoke with a lady by the name of Karen, who advised that the reason for this charge is that I'm currently paying 44.99 cents per kwh with Clearview Energy. I inquired as to what RI Energy is currently charging and she answered 17.785 cents per kwh. This would calculate as a more than $400 difference in this bill alone.

Following my call to RI Energy, I reached out to Clearview to cancel service. I spoke with a woman named 'Maria'. She apologized for my feeling that I need to leave Clearview. I told her that I'm leaving because they are charging me nearly $.45 per kwh and I could go to RI Energy for just under $.18. She countered that she could give me a rate of $.13. I did not accept her offer, as I feel that this company should have honored my family's loyalty over the years and charged us a reasonable rate to begin with. I have no trust for them at all.

Through every fault of my own, I do not check my bill regularly, as it's always been higher than most people I know, secondary to the demand in my house. Also, I'm not familiar with what other suppliers charge-that's on me for not educating myself.

Conversely, I do not remember any correspondence from Clearview that indicated rate increases.

While I have no clue how much more we paid for our services, in comparison with the majority of other customers, I was told by RI Energy that this rate from Clearview is the highest they've seen.

Desired outcome: I feel that my family is entitled to a reimbursement of a reasonable difference in charges, at least retro until 1/1/2022.
