Ringaza False charges on cell phone bill for ring tones

For the 2nd time we have been charged for ringtones from Ringaza for ringtones that we have not subscribed to receive. They refuse to take this charge off of our cell phone bill, but can't provide proof that we actually subscribed. Alltel tells me they can do nothing about this that once these ringtone companies get a hold of your cell phone number they can charge whatever they want to your cell phone bill. I would like to know how this company can continue to get by with this type of scam.

I fell for one of the IQ banner adds asking if I was as smart as George Bush. Apparently I'm not because after taking the test, which was way too easy and should have been a clue, I was told to enter my cell phone number to see the result. The alarm went off in my brain but I ignored it and entered my number. It sent a pin and asked me to enter it in the web page. I did and was sent two more text messages. One was from Ringaza telling me that I had successfully signed up for their ringtone service at $20.00 a month. I agreed to the stupid IQ test terms and conditions, acutally I checked the box that said I did and I don't know where I was supposed to have read them. I'm sure that somewhere in there I signed up for ringtones and agreed to have them screw me out of $20.00.

I'm going to phone cingular and tell them to refuse payment ot ringaza. I never went to their website and never got any ring tones. I immediately sent STOP back and the said I won't receive any further charges. I know what that means right? They have already hit me this month. This is a scam if I ever saw one.

Freeze.com does the same thing! I have never signed up with them and I began getting charged. Alltel gave me their phone number. I called and demanded they stop. I was told it would end right away. As soon as I ended the call I got 2 more texts sent to my phone and another one this morning! I told Alltel that if they did not put a stop it I would end my service agreement with them and notify other agencies that would help me. I am documenting everything so that when I terminate my agreement with them I will not be liable for the termination fee.

I just received the $9.99 charge for the second month in a row for a service that I did not sign up for. When I called Verizon they suggested that I text back with the word "STOP" which I did. That must have been after the montly billing cycle so I received the charge for the second month. I am hoping this is over, but I doubt it.

This company is a compete rip off. They sent my daughter a text message, which she opened and then deleted. There was no PIN involved. The next thing we know we are getting charged $9.99 a month for nothing. They refuse to refund anything. Any ideas what to do?

There is no way possible to accidentally subscribe to our service. The process is multi-step and requires that the user acknowledge their understanding of the program before being activated. The user, upon entering their cell number will be sent a unique PIN code to their phone. In order to be activated the user must either reply on their mobile phone to that message accepting the subscription or enter that unique PIN code in to the website and check a box saying that they have AGREE to the terms and
conditions of the offer. The price is prominently displayed as well as the terms of the offer are shown on the first page. We are not only regulated by normal legal business law and common best practices, but we are also compliant with the Mobile Marketing Associations guidelines or mobile content distribution. In addition, ever offer that we attempt to put before the public is subject to an extensive 4 week review by each cellular company
individually as they obviously want to protect their customer base.

Ringaza Charged 9.99 for no reason!

I have a myspace account to kept up with my large family. I got an email on myspace from my cousin which said, "Umm, I found this video of you, check it out." Because I know of no video of me on the internet, I clicked on it (I'm usually reluctant to click on things but this from from a family member!). When I clicked on this link it directed me to freakingstupidlive.com (which has now been removed from the internet). Somehow I unintentionally signed up for this Ringaza ringtones for 9.99 per month. I called them the same day to dispute and no one would help. I spoke with Luke @ [protected] and he told me that the owner is Roger Logie @ 12310 Pinecrest Rd, Suite 306 Reston VA. They operate under Opera Telecom USA. Fight the charges. Do some research and contact Roger...I bet you'll have luck. I was so mad I went to & on your side, here in Wash DC... waiting to hear back if they'll research illegal/irresponsible business activities. I told the call center at the number above that I was filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and they stopped answering their phones all together. Good luck and I hope I can make this company change their sneaky ways.

I think ESPN is helping them to scam people. Iwent to take the IQ test, to get the result they required me to cell phone number before I know I was signed up. I can believe ESPN put their advertising on its website.

*** THIS COMPANY IS EVIL **** THEY ALSO NEVER TAKE YOU OFF "WAITING FOR NEXT ATTENDANT"- THUS AVOIDING BOTH DIRECT CALLS *AND* VOICEMAIL- I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THEY GOT ANY INFORMATION FROM OR ABOUT ME- AT ALL! WE NEED TO SUE THIS COMPANY TOGETHER. THEY ARE POSTING CHARGES AGAINST CELL PHONE ACCOUNTS USING THE MOST INSIDIOUS MEANS. IF YOU WANT TO FILE A CIVIL LAWSUIT AGAINST THEM PLEASE EMAIL MIKO AT miko@mikosweb.com. WE ALREADY HAVE 500 PEOPLE IN THE STATE OF WA CONSIDERING SUING THEM- THE REASON BEING ANOTHER ISSUE- T-MOBILE AND OTHER CELL PHONE COMPANIES SIMPLY ACCEPT, AND WILL NOT REFUND, THESE BOGUS CHARGES. MOREOVER, THEY FAIL TO BLACKLIST THIS ORGANIZATION, ALLOWING ITB TO POST MILLIONS OF ILLEGAL CHARGES, HOPING THAT PEOPLE WILL NOT NOTICE. PLEASE NOTE: THEY HAVE A "POLICY" THAT IF YOU HAVE NOT "NOTICED" THEIR BOGUS CHARGE WITHIN 60 DAYS, YOU CANNOT GET A REFUND. HOW MANY OF US Are able to find a bogus $10 charge that we did not expect, on any bill, within 60 days, when, by the time of printing the stattement, 30 days has already passed?

PLEASE JOIN ME IN ATTACKING BOTH THIS COMPANY AND THE DELL PHONE COMPANIES WHO RANDOMLY ACCEPT CHARGES FROM "COMPANIES" LIKE THIS.

I have verizon and had the same problem. They had me send a text message to 75714. In the message type cancel cancel cancel cancel cancel. It must be typed 5 times and then send it. You should get a text message back right away that will say your are unsub. If not Jan 14 2008 you can contact your cell phone provider and have a block put on for all these kind of faultly charges.

I have two charges on my Alltel bill for Ringaza for $9.99. I tried contacting the company and there was no answer. I am not paying these bills. I think that Alltel should investigate these companies and refuse to allow them and why are they billing us for them. I have no idea how these charges occurred.

The same thing happened to us--$9.99 for something we never got. How do we get this charge off our Alltel Statement? And will it be charged again and again? This is a terrible company!

Ringaza Rip off scamming company!

We were charged 9.99 on our alltel bill for ringaza alerts. We did not order this service, the phone that the ringtone is said to be on cant even get ringtones. I called the company to get a refund and they would not comply. Alltel says they cannot refund me because this is a third party fee. I just received my bill yesterday and i was again charged the 9.99 fee even though i called to have this service removed 3 times. This is soo aggravating and i don't know what to do to be able to insure i will not get charged again. I have turned this company in to the better business bureau and have received a response from the company, but basically saying that there is no way that a customer could be charged for something they did not order. But i did not order this service and i did not receive the service they are saying i ordered. In spite of everything, i still have no ringtones to show for the 9.99 i have to pay, twice.

My advice in this case of this rip off scamming company is to turn it in to the better business bureau. That is the only way for anything to happen to companies like this. Otherwise they will continue to rip people off forever.

I argued with these people for 45 minutes and went through 2 people to get my $19.98 back from them. Which of course I knew they weren't going to give it back because a company that makes money scamming people wont make any money unless they are scamming people.

So I found my own way of getting back at them. I figure that if one of the 2 employees that I was talking to was a supervisor then he probably makes around $16 and hour working at a call center. The other person below him probably makes aroun $9 an hour. So I wasted 45 minutes on the phone with them arguing. So the company wasted $12 paying that supervisor and $6.75 paying the regular employee for a grand total of $18.75 that I forced the company to pay to its employees in wasted time. :)

I encourage everyone to waste as much time on the phone with them as you can (providing this is time that you wouldnt be spending doing something more productive) It's fun. Plus if you can really upset one of the employees and make them cry and get them to quit their job then you should pat yourself on the back because you just wasted a bunch of company money on resources. They would have to replace the employee "time spent" ad's, paper work, insurance, man power... This stuff adds up.

Have fun wasting their time :)

Unsolicited Text messages started to arrive on my cell phone. I tried calling a number to get these stopped, but RingAZA 's message said they had to be stopped on line. After many frustrating times trying to get into their website (which almost never seems to be available), I finally managed to get into the site. I typed in the word "STOP" which is supposed to stop the texts. Several days later, I get a text message thanking me for renewing my subscription - which, at least to my mind, is the opposite of "STOP".

Any suggestions as to what to do ?

I was hit with the unauthorized 9.99 charge also. This is what you must do.

First, cancel the subscription using your phone that is recieving the messages. Send the keyword STOP to 75714 and then follow the instructions for unsubscribing.

Second, call your cell phone provider and have them block PREMIUM Message Services. That is the sevice that allows a third party to bill you through your cell provider. You can still use normal text messaging.

Your cell phone provider may refund your money as a courtesy, but they are not required to do so.

Received my cellphone bill today with over $21 in "premium" text message charges that turned out to be Ringaza. They got my cell number from completing an "IQ" test off of Facebook. Guess who's the idiot. At no time did this company say they were going to charge premium text services.

BEWARE OF RINGAZA AND OTHER ADVERTISERS ON FACEBOOK!

Text messages started appearing on my phone and I started to just erase them and then I replied to not send them again and I was charged $9.99 for two different messages, I then realized I had to call these rip off artists to discontinue something I didn't start. I didn't know I was being charged $20 until I got my bill. What a bunch of crooks!

I too was "signed up" for Ringaza ringtones without knowing it. I did some research on line and I found one place that said to text the word STOP to 75714 and that will cancel it. I tried it and it worked! I received a text a minute later saying I was UNsubscribed as of that date. Try it, it sure beats spending 45 minutes on the phone arguing with them and it may work.
