Hallum Motors reviews and complaints
The vehicle wasn't in good condition and the seller didn't respond to my phone calls
I found the advertisement about vehicle. The company Hallum Motors responded to my questions and the staff assured me that I didn’t need to worry, because the vehicle was in good condition. Also, the seller said that he would change the tyres. I signed the contract and this company delivered the car to my address. But when I saw the car, I noticed some problems with it. The seller replied and said to call him tomorrow to discuss everything. But his phone was switched off on the next day.

False advertising and dishonest sales practices!
We purchased a 2001 John Deere 8410 MFWD Tractor from Hallum Motors on an eBay auction with no reserve, they started the bidding at $55, 000.00 (Mr. Hallum likes to make his ads state that they sell everything with NO RESERVE). Buyer beware and do your research in to what you are getting. This Tractor was listed as Clean, No Reserve, One Owner, Excellent Condition, Well Maintained. We won the bidding for a price of $71, 100.00, we did a bank to bank wire transfer of the money to Hallum Motors and then we went about setting up shipping which we paid for in the amount of $2, 200.00. When we received the tractor we were so disappointed that it was nothing like the pictures and there was no disclosure as to the damages on this tractor. We contacted Mr. Hallum asking that he take the tractor back and pay return shipping, Mr. Hallum refused and asked that we find out what it would cost to repair the tractor. We had our local John Deere Dealer give us a price estimate to get this tractor into field ready condition, parts were $2, 955.02 with labor being $1, 768.00 and a replacement rear tire that was cut 3/4 around in the amount of $1, 200.00. All of this information was sent to Mr. Hallum who stated that he has had alot of good feedback on all of his automotive sales through eBay and that when you buy used equipment it is just that (USED EQUIPMENT). We attempted to come to a settlement through mediation (Square Trade) and were unable to settle, we also filed a claim through eBay Insurance but were told that since the vehicle was not dangerous and life threatening that there was nothing they could do as far as insurance was concerned, but the agent did try to negotiate a settlement as well and to come to a mutual agreement whereby we would then remove our negative feedback given to Mr. Hallum on eBay. Many times Mr. Hallum stated that he would give us a settlement amount or look at the cost of repairs, but he then does not return calls or is just too busy to deal with your complaints. This man has been allowed to carry on his bad business practices for far to long, this needs to be stopped now. Our research through the John Deere dealers has found that this local one owner tractor was sold by the original purchaser in Mississippi to a John Deere dealer there who then leased the tractor to who knows how many farmers, and then Mr. Hallum purchased it for sale on eBay. There is no way that this tractor was worth anywhere close to what we paid for it and we may never be able to recoupe our costs but we would very much like to be sure that anyone and everyone knows how badly these people treat their customers and hope that others can be spared dealings with this very disreputable business.
Sincerely,
Grady and Julia Free

False advertising and dishonest!
On January 7, 2008 I was a victim of Hallum Motors’s false advertising and lack of integrity. Do yourself a favor if you are considering doing business with them and don’t. I submitted a “Buy It Now” bid on E-bay for a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe in which Hallum Motors was the seller. I submitted the bid because of the “advertised” details of the condition of the Tahoe. The specific exterior description listed “No Visible Dents” and “No Visible Scratches”. I called Hallum Motors on January 8, 2008 to confirm the receipt of the bid. Salesman Jim King indicated they had received notification of the bid but it was not complete. He asked if I wanted to end the auction with “But It Now” price, I told him yes and I would follow up with financing details. On January 12, 2008 I flew to their dealership in Arkansas from Ohio. While looking over the vehicle on their lot I found multiple scratches through the clear coat and one dent in which the paint was cracked. When I brought this to Jim King’s attention he stated, “ Well this is a wholesale vehicle”. I told him I realized the price was reasonable, but the advertised description mentioned nothing about the scratches or dents. Actually, it advertised the vehicle as having none. These scratches/dent are not minor used vehicle expected scratches. Jim King stated, “When you get back to Ohio get estimates on the damage and they would take of it.” I made the huge mistake of having signed over the purchase check and an even bigger mistake of trusting Hallum Motors to do the right thing. Their website mentions their “Integrity”, just more false advertising. When I got back to Ohio a grinding noise developed in the front and the side carrier bearings had to be repaired. I have not asked for $ for those repairs, only the repairs we agreed to. I had driven the vehicle less than 700 mi. I e-mailed the estimates for the body repairs ($900) and followed up with a phone call to Jim King who never returned my call. I called a few days later and Jim King stated, “I have not forgot about you and I will talk to Mr. Hallum this evening.” Never heard from him, I called him a few days later and got the same excuse. A week later I called the owner Kent Hallum and explained the entire situation in which he indicated he knew nothing about. Kent Hallum stated he would look into it and call me back, I told him I did not believe him, Kent Hallum stated “ I am the owner and I will call you back”. A week went by and no phone call, I called him again and advised I would be taking action against him if this matter were not addressed. He again said he would look into it and call me back. Kent Hallum has called me a few times since with an excuses and how he has been too busy to address this situation. The last time he called and need my last name? I told him that I sent him digital pictures showing the scratches, all my contact info. and have yet to hear from him again. I suspect I will not hear from him. I bet I would have heard from them if I had been able to post feedback on them with e-bay. If you would like to discuss this further post your contact info. and I will respond. If Kent Hallum makes this right I will post that also.

I too fall for Kent Hallum lies and deceiving. On 6/12/15 I purchased a vehicle from Kent Hallum. I first saw the eBay listing and follow-up on his website I was really interested in this particular vehicle and call him to discuss about it. I was told from Mr. Hallum that vehicle was great and runs good (still have the text message save between Kent and I) and have nothing to worry about it he stressing about it having brand new tires. So I made arrangements to have the vehicle transport to Tennessee. Upon arrival I was very disappointed with it, I also took it to the dealership where they instructed me about problems and issues that vehicle has. I contacted Mr. Hallum about my dislikes that he fail to disclose the hidden issues with the vehicle to me, He said that if I don't like my purchase call him the next day so we can make arrangements to get back the vehicle which I did for weeks and he keep blowing me off or not taking my calls at all.. Since then I file a with the Attorney General Of Arkansas which stated he didn't do anything wrong. I am going through the process now search for legal remedies that is available to me, I will not drop this, Kent Hallum did this to many folks and need to be stop!
We purchased a suburban over the phone, off of his dealership site and were going to pick it up the next morning. He sold it that afternoon on a buy it now auction. Never tried to fix the problem and then blatantly lied about ebay policies. Don't do business with this dealer.
