Eyeweartown.com reviews and complaints
Scam/fraud
NEVER do business with this so-called company. I have filed complaints with the BBB, the Attorney General in my state of Iowa and the Attorney General of New York. They took my check for a pair of glasses they advertised in stock, cashed the check, took my money, did NOT have the glasses and couldn't get them, insisted that I accept a substitute that I did not want, and refused to refund my money. It was nothing short of straight-up theft and fraud. They refused to answer emails, hung up on me every time I called to demand my money back, refused to respond to the BBB. I won't quit with these crooks. If the Attorney Generals cannot force them to refund my money, I'm taking them to court. I will not stop until I get my money back. Please, please, do NOT do any business with these criminal rip-offs. They are only thieves.
Product not received, keep getting the run around from CSRs
I ordered a pair of purple and orange Balenciaga #0003 sunglasses on Sunday, April 10 from eyeweartown.com. These glasses were $248 on Eyeweartown's website but since I found them for $199 on a different website, Eyeweartown agreed to price match so that I would purchase the sunglasses from them and not from other online site. It sounded like a fair deal so I went ahead and purchased the purple/orange glasses at the matched price of $199 from eyeweartown.com.
Within 10 minutes of my order being placed, I received a call from Marina (a customer service rep for Eyeweartown) telling me that they unfortunately did not have the specific color of glasses I ordered available in their warehouse. She said she could have a pair shipped from one of their retail stores but that she unfortunately would not be able to honor the $199 price and would have to charge me the full $248. I reluctantly agreed the full $248 price tag would be okay but that I would need an invoice for the price difference for my records. Three days went by and no invoice showed up, so I called back and was transferred to a CSR named Lindsay. She was nice and immediately sent over the new invoice with the $248 price. All was well for another two days.
Then on Friday, I received a call from Marina again, informing me that the one and only pair of purple/orange glasses available in their retail outlet arrived at their warehouse severely defective and that she could not send them to me in the condition they were in. She said the colors looked horrible and the frames were severely bent. I know that Balenciaga would not put a defective product on the market like this so I asked if they were truly authentic glasses and was told "why yes...of course they are." I wasn't buying it and asked if Marina could give me a refund. I was told NO! She insisted that they could not credit monies back to a flexible spending debit card once they had already received the payment. Marina said she could send me a black/gray pair of the Balenciaga #0003 or that I could pick out an entirely different pair of glasses off their website. These were my only two options at this point. I was pretty disgruntled, but told her to go ahead and expedite the shipping of a black/gray pair to me asap. I figured they already had my money at this point, so I might as well just give in and get another color.
It is now Sunday (one week from the date of purchase). Since I had not yet received an e-mail stating that the black/gray pair had been shipped to me, I decided to call Eyeweartown again. I was on hold for a good 15 minutes and when someone finally picked up, it sounded like they were answering the phone while mowing their grass (lawn mower, leaf blower, birds chirping in the background). They were definitely not in their office which really made me suspicious of the validity of this company. The background noise was so loud I could barely hear the gentleman on the other end of the phone. He was very short with me and said that I would need to call them back tomorrow (Monday) because their server was down and he wasn't able to look up any orders.
Something seemed really fishy after that phone call so I went to eyeweartown.com just now and found that their website is no longer in existence! There is no more domain name and no trace of this company any where on the web! I then checked Eyeweartown out on the BBB's website and found they have an "F" rating and 27 complaints. Oh brother did I get screwed or what?! I will definitely not be taking this lightly and will pursue all avenues to make sure I get my money back. More to come...
The complaint has been investigated and resolved to the customer’s satisfaction.
Hi, the same thing has happened to me, could you please keep me posted as to whether you actually receive the glasses? Cheers
