We went to visit this cattery in late May to choose two (2) ragdoll kittens to purchase. We chose two kitties, and put a $200 deposit on each, with the understanding the breeder would deliver them to us when the kittens reached 12 wks old. A few weeks ago the breeder emailed us to say one kitty got sick, got a cold and although she tried to save her, she died (at 4.5 wks old). She asked us to choose another kitty from her cattery of over 30+ kitties. We went back to choose another kitty. Then a few weeks later, she emails to say the other kitty died. Was coughing, couldnt breathe well, went inside a playtent and a bunch of other kitties were playing on top of it, and stampeeded the coughing kitty and he died as well. So we requested our deposit back. At first she said deposits are non refundable. After several emails back and forth, she agreed to refund the deposit, but she needed to sell some cats first, because money was tight, she had high overhead and vet bills. This really isnt our problem. This lady has way too many cats, and can't properly care for them. She needs to be shut down or at the very least, figure out how to run a business. We want our deposits back so we can get other kitties. Have filed with BBB as our only recourse.

Bottom line is this - Kathy has way too many cats/kitties to be able to care for them properly. According to a state inspector, she has more than 60 cats. Rule of thumb is you have one more litter box than you do cats. She does NOT have 61 litter boxes in her home. Her home reaks of urine and feces, because one person cannot possibly scoop/clean litter boxes enough. When approaching her property from the outside, you can smell it. Its awful - no human or cat should have to live with that smell. We have spoken to a number of other breeders and outside of a kitty dying right after birth, this just does not happen unless proper care is not given to them. She also does NOT separate a sick kitty from the others, so naturally it gets passed around to all the animals in the home. A sick cat (kitty) should be kept separate from the others until its well. No other breeder we visited had an odor like this, because most breeders only breed 1-2 times a year and maybe only have 2-3 queens in the home. Kathy may love her kitties dearly, but she cannot possibly care for them, as she is only one person. We actually had another client of Kathys contact us, as the got 2 kitties from her, that were sick and spent $$ on a vet to get them well again. Her words to us were "I would never buy from Kathy again, or recommend her and I am just grateful I got my babies out of her home before something worse happened to them." (her words, not mine). Also she states, her kitties are "purebred ragdolls" - which they are NOT. Purebred Ragdolls have blue eyes. Plain and simple. Most of hers do not. Look at the photos on her website, most have green eyes. She breeds what SHE likes, not a purebred, and certainly not worth the $$ she charges for them.

My best friend purchased a ragdoll cat three years ago, named Shepard from Texas Ragdoll Kittens. She would be writing this review if she had not been totally devastated by the death of her three year old cat. Shepard was like her child, paying $2200 to take Shepard home. On one of the his first vet visits, my friend found that Shepard had a major heart murmur and neurological concerns. The cat also could not see out of one eye. The neurological issues have turned into seizure episodes, leading to having to put Shepard down the other day.

I cannot believe that Texas Ragdoll Kittens can continue to do business, especially at a high fee, when selling genetically mutated cats. They’re cute cats but beware! My heart goes out to my friend and all others that have to put their pet down, especially within such a short period. Buyers beware!

I bought kittens from Kathy’s in 2021 and they were perfectly healthy. Kathy spoils them and makes them so tame before selling them. I highly recommend her and both of my babies have blue eyes. We took them to the vet for their next round of shots and the vet gave them a perfect score on the exam.

***Warning***
RAGDOLL BLUES Kitten Mill! Kittens with RINGWORM and EAR MITES
Kathy Renteria/RAGDOLL BLUES does not take kittens to be seen by a Veterinarian from birth to being placed in a home! Kathy Renteria/RAGDOLL BLUES sent kittens to new homes with Ringworm and Ear-mites infecting our whole house. Let me be clear. Given the pandemic our house has been isolating for nearly a year. There have been no animals or people other than our immediate family in the home. Our new kitten had scabbing and wounds when we took receipt. Having NEVER had ringworm I had no idea what was going on with our new kitten until 10 days into his time with us. Within 10-12 days we all broke out with ringworm, photos to follow. My elderly mother had it the worst. After surviving COVID she was infected due to Kathy Renteria’s irresponsibility. DO NOT get your kitten from Kathy Renteria/RAGDOLL BLUES

I purchased two kittens after delays in December . Only had two weeks - had to out one down after one week and second - second week . Necropsy said toxin, however kittens were never outside, house cleaner biweekly, have sweepers Rubin auto under furniture, I was left to feel I had done something wrong - I had no plants nothing, but they couldn’t find a virus so it was ruled toxin . I then broke out in ringworm after I was told one kittens tail which was clear had shorter hair - later after first kitten died she told me it was a yeast infection .
Well now I know - it was ringworm- now I have to wonder if the toxin was in fact what was used for mites and ring worm - 4000.00 spent after er visits included in purchase of kittens .
I wasn’t going to report because I was left to feel responsible- now after reading and then dying so quickly and not fluffy and gorgeous like they had been treated upon delivery I know in my heart now as even the A & M vet said I had done nothing wrong . But she has herself covered in her so called contract - I will never buy from a breeder that I do not visit .

I have purchased many purebred animals throughout my life and it is absolutely UNACCEPTABLE to even be running a breeding facility if kittens are commonly dying. This is not normal, cats are not "delicate". They die when exposed to very serious health issues. Catteries with these issues should not be running. It's unethical to animals and also to potential customers.

Well run catteries do not have serious diseases because it is easy, but a lot of work, to take preventive measures against them. One huge one being not over crowding, having money to stay on top of vaccinations, etc.

Reputable breeders work from waiting lists and can confidently place kittens when they are very young. These kittens absolutely should not be just dropping dead. It should be extremely upsetting to lose a kitten, not common place and "oh just pick another".

If ANY cats are dying there are serious health issues there. Of course you may have a freak situation but two kittens in a row just dying like that, you would be a fool to move forward with the purchase.

Hey Stupid, (Billie) Any cats registered prior to 1994 is called Foundation Registering. It's an accepted and normal procedure for all New Breeds. Now get lost!

Hey Nutcase, long time no hear. Ragamuffins are there since 1994. If you registered IRCA Ragdolls that were born before 1994 as Ragamuffins, than YOU are a FRAUD.
Hmm, you are FRAUD, hihi.

Breeds, Sells and Promotes Mink & Sepia Ragdolls as being traceable to the Foundation Cats of the Ragdoll Breed. This is a FALSE & MISLEADING statement since her cats trace back to cats that I Owned and Bred that are registered RagaMuffins and are a completely different Breed. Her cats are unrecogised Variants of the Ragdoll Breed.

I would like to say I am truly shocked. Sir, sometimes these babies die. Cats and kittens are so delicate. I lost two kittens within a month of each other. I thought I was going to just fall apart. I loved them so much. When my first kitten died I decided to purchase a ragdoll from Kathy. Kathy answered all my questions. Gave me references. I didn't even ask! Olive was everything she promised. Then I lost my second kitten after she was fixed. I was so devastated. Heck, I still cry when I think of it. I didn't go to Kathy. I wanted a different breed. So, I got a Persian. Boy, what a mistake. the kitten was not socialized properly and she was VERY sick. I went back and forth with the two ladies and was basically told me I was lying, then the vet was wrong. no refunds only exchanges. the lady went on to say maybe it was my house. my house must have negative energy! Once the Persian got better I had someone interested in purchasing the Persian from me, but it didn't worked out. that lady had to back down anyway.had someone interested people, but could not with a clear conscience sell her this sick kitten. went back to Kathy. I adopted my Stinker. the difference between the Persian and Kathy's Ragdolls are night and day. Kathy's babies are social and very affectionate. this poor Persian ([censored]) did not have love Kathy gives her Ragdolls. Kathy's ragdolls are healthy, strong, sweet personalities, and are the most loving animals on this world. And that takes time and effort to make that happen. I will never ever stray from Ragdolls. I will never ever buy from any other breeder. I trust her. I belive her. I believe anyone thinking of buying from Kathy should not think twice. she is amazing. I have only met her in person a couple of times, but I believe in her. Especially after dealing with this Persian breeder! Sir, you got off easy. This lady Elizabeth and her "partner" attacked me verbally. I had proof and I took that Persian to the best in Houston. The Houston Cat hospital in Memorial.
Sir, please find it in your heart to be forgiving. It was not meant for you to take these kittens. Sir, sometimes things that are so far fetched and unbelievable do happen. I learned that from my own experience. Please stop trying to hurt this gentle lady. she loves those animals. they are her family. And this is hurting her heart. I know it is. there are people out here who need her! Need her beautiful babies! God is in front of her. again. I am so sorry you had a bad experience. At least they did not die with you. that's the reason they need to stay with the mother until they are weaned. Again, I never realized how delicate kittens are. I hope this helps Sir. I don't want to be called names or call anyone names. Lets try to maintain respect for one another. We all deserve it.
Kathy, if you read this, I love my babies. I could not of made it without them! thank you for guiding me!

This guy is an idiot. He doesn't seem to realize that kittens die sometimes no matter how much we try to save them. She was nice enough to return your deposit even though she didn't have too. You could have just picked out 2 other kittens too. I've known Kathy for a while and she take great care of her cats. Sometimes a kitten gets sick and it just can't be saved. Doesn't mean it was anything she did, it just happens. Out of all the kittens she has sold through the years, you are the only one that has ever complained.
