Just this week I noticed that our dog had quite a few fleas after visiting the groomer. We are a one income family and can not afford Front Line. We had tried Hartz, but it just didn't work. I was at Kroger's this weekend and saw they had Sergeant's Gold for dogs that weigh 9 to 20 pounds, which is suppose to be their new improved formula with skin protection technology. I applied it to her and of course she went running around the house rolling around like she does after getting a bath. Last night, I noticed that she was panting a lot and running around the house and simply acting weird. However, I didn't give it much thought. Today, I couldn't even get her to go out to go to the bathroom. She laid around in our coat closet on my children's shoes. It didn't dawn on me that it could be an allergic reaction to the Sergeant's, but I decided to give her a bath with Palmolive dish soap. She was shaking up a storm, but Muffin appeared releived after I started working the dish soap in to clean her. She has finally come out of the closet, but she still isn't herself. Muffin acts like there are thousands of fleas attacking her at times. I am going to give her a bath in Dawn tomorrow and do that for a couple of days until she is back to normal. Unfortunatley, we don't have the money to take her to the vet so we are hoping this will help since appears to have made a small difference already. I wish I would have researched this before buying Sergeant's. Looks like I am going to have to find a natural alternative to the flea problem, because we can not afford the Front Line. I am just glad that nothing too serious happened to Muffin. I am planning on calling the company and returning it for a refund.
