I too had a horrible experience when I used this product. I usually take my dogs (both pruebred Shih Tzu's) the the vet for their Advantix flea control. However, last Tuesday night (6/23) we discovered that our dogs had fleas and the vet was already closed. I went to the store to purchase flea shampoo, but there wasn't any instock so I bought the Sergeants Flea control for the small (9-20 lbs) dogs. I bathed my dogs in sensative puppy shampoo (so there wasn't any flea control additives) and applied the Seargents as directed. My smaller dog (9lbs) only received 1/2 of the ampule. Aproximately 45 minutes after administration, the smaller dog started "ticking" and became very restless, vomitted foamy stuff and eventually all the contents in her stomach. I took her to an after hours Vet hospital where I waited as they bathed her, gave her a shot and iv fluids. At 12:30 AM I was told she was still foaming and needed the IV flush overnight as she was still ticking and lethargic. I was told by the Vet that she had a toxic reaction to the flea medication and they see it all the time w/ Sergeants and Hartz. I had to pay the bill before I left which was $584.00 - not an exageration, I have the bill to prove it. On my way home, my husband calls and states that our other dog is acting the same way, she's 11.2 pounds so it may have taken longer to hit her system. When I saw Maggie, she was much better and wasn't ticking, we thought she was missing Ruby. As a precaution, I gave her a bath but an hour later, she began exhibiting the same type of nervous tick/spasms and would try and bite whoever was holding her. She too was restless but very exhausted. She would try to sleep but would awake every few minutes w/ the tick/spasm. I washed her again and timed the twitches/spasms. At first they were every 2 - 3 minutes and over time the duration between twiches would be a little longer until around 3:30 AM when they seemed to subside. Thankfully, they are fine but they spent the next 24 hours very lethargic and depressed like. I caution everyone... DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! My vet said she's seen so many dogs die from it and have these similar reactions. WHY is the product still on the market?
