I also had a negative experience, and didn't
continue with this company after their quote to me. Amerifreight touts all its' positive
reviews on certain review sites (see CEO's response above), but doesn't
mention the way they get so many reviews: they essentially pay people $50 to
leave a review, and make their prices look lower by already reflecting that $50 incentive in advance in your
quote.
However, there was nothing mentioned about this on my quote, just near the top "be sure to claim
your discount", then below the quoted price "(This rate includes a $50 discount)". OK so I’ve claimed it, right? WRONG!
When I questioned the rep closely, it turns out that you will actually be charged $50 MORE (ie.
NOT get the discounted price you've already been quoted) UNLESS afterwards you go
onto the specific ratings sites they designate and review them.
The company rep responding above to prior complaint claims the reviews are all
"honest". They may be honest, but one needs to realize that this
method of marketing heavily skews the review sites toward only people who had a
positive experience, ie the people for whom Amerifreight's
DID successfully get a driver contracted (and largely reflects customers experience
with that other company, the contracted trucker).
Since only the successful customers are directed to the review site, those reviews will rarely reflect the
people like me who didn’t use Amerifreight because their quote seemed deceptive (and rep refused to give even a general estimate of how often a quote like mine would be picked up at the price quoted). In particular, it wouldn’t reflect aborted customers like the guy above who gave up and used another company, unless they happened to stumble on the review site on their own, like
the guy above who gave up and used another company when Amerifreight failed to deliver on the most important part of its job--- lining up a trucker at the price they quoted.
Amerifreight may be right in line with competitors when they actually deliver service, I have no way of knowing. But I do know that the customer reviews on those specific sites are not an accurate reflection of customers who used (or attempted to use) their services, and that in my opinion their price quotes are misleading and dishonest by not indicating what has to be done to "claim" that
discount that appears to have already been received.
